Ialu sniffed and hugged at his covers like a child. "Don't wanna go to the nurse...," he pouted and mumbled. The nurse was bad. Very bad. Going to the nurse meant that he would be analyzed and poked and prodded, and questioned. But worst of all, it meant that he would be handled. That someone would be touching his skin... he shivered at the thought and shook his head as firmly as he could, again stating, "I don't wanna go to the nurse."
His stomach really was hurting though. Like someone took a hold of his dagger, stabbed him, and was moving the dagger across his stomach. Back and forth. Back and forth. He let out a small scream of pain when a sharp 'stab' hit his stomach, and he clung tighter to his blankets. "K-keiani... could you go to the..AH NYOSIK-.. for me instead? It's in the main building next to the office you were.." Wince.".. at the other day.. just ask anyone if you don't know what you're doing.." Even if Ialu had been convinced to go, he didn't think he would be able to make it. The egyptian boy doubled over in pain, curling into a ball on his bed.
Tears began to form at his eyes at the pain. He wanted to cry, but he couldn't. He wouldn't let anyone see him cry, no matter how blind Keiani was. The tanned boy bit his lip, holding another scream.

Kei was actually getting ready to argue with the other boy, to try to convince him that he really did need to go to the nurse, when Ialu cried out. All of his earlier amusement drained away. He froze, ears lying flat on his head and eyes wide as he stared at the blob that was the other boy, realizing belatedly that the boy was in actual pain.
That wasn't something that Kei had dealt with from being sick before. His sister had seemed to fairly regularly but that couldn't be it, since his mother said it was some mysterious ailment that only attacked girls... Maybe a really really bad stomach ache? It had to be something to do with the boy feeling bad earlier, so at least it couldn't be something ripped up.
He moved away from the bed, towards the door, as the other boy managed to get out a request for Kei to go for him... which with how this was looked to be a fairly good idea. "Do you want me to bring her here?" He asked, reaching back to open up the door, still staring at his roommate. Logically he probably should have bolted by now but it had almost sounded like Ialu didn't want to see the nurse at all...

"No! No nurse... No..," he let out another mangled cry. Ialu tried to think of something else, anything else. The day his mother and him found the oasis. The day his father gave him his armband. The day he won his first fighting match. The day he was almost killed. He gripped his covers. He shouldn't be thinking of that. It was the past. Done. Over with.
That man... Ialu couldn't even believe he was his father's brother. They were completely opposite. Ialu's father was strong and warm. He was a leader, and stable, while that man was dependent on alcohol, weak, and always angry. Always cold. The tanned boy squeezed his eyes shut and gritted his teeth.
The sharp pain was coming on full force now, and Ialu screamed at the top of his lungs, before he passed out from the pain.

Kei backed into the door in shock as Ialu screamed, his heartrate jumping up to pound in his ears about as fast as it would go as he stared at the suddenly silent and still shape on the bed. For about half a moment he stayed frozen like that, then he reached up, pulling off his glasses and setting them on the desk besides the door before taking off out of it.
He couldn't run with his glasses on. He couldn't even risk walking fast, but contrary to what pretty much everyone thought he could haul ass when he needed too... it would just involve running into anyone who didn't get out of the way quick enough. His siblings used to get more than a little enjoyment out of his few attempts to play with them, since it usually involved him running into walls and furniture.
It was probably a fairly good thing that not many people were around, since Keiani managed to actually not run into anyone. He did run into a door hard enough to leave his head ringing, and then ended up going down the stairs at a tumble instead of a run. From how his arm was stinging it felt like he had skinned it, but it didn't hurt quite enough to make it so he stopped moving.
As it was he almost did run into someone as he neared the doors, and a couple moments later was glad that he had chosen to run.
"Keiani! Are you alright? Where are your glasses?" He wasn't given a chance to ask who in the world this lady was as she went on, sounding a bit flustered, "Oh dear. I'm the nurse, you're supposed to come to me every couple of weeks to get your eyes checked--."
"It's not me, it's my roommate" He got out, successfully interrupting whatever vein of thought she had been about to voice, "He got sick at lunch and now he's really hurting but he doesn't want anyone to come..."
"Oh he wouldn't, would he." The lady said, spinning back towards the doors and grabbing Kei's arm simultaneously, pulling him through and down to what he assumed was her office. "Unfortunately I'm heading out and it's enough of an emergency that I can't stay. Tell me anything you saw about it."
She released his arm as the Er Rit listed off anything he could remember, spinning back in a flurry of blue that he assumed was skirts -- he couldn't exactly see anything right now -- and shoving a paper back with what felt like pills in it into his hands. "Give him one of the big oval red, one of the small oval black, and two of the round yellow. Keep an eye on him for an hour and if the pain doesn't subside give him one more of the red. If that doesn't help in two hours after that give him another red one, but no more. More of the same at sunrise I'll write a note to both of your teachers so you'll be excused from class tomorrow. Keep awake and as much of an eye on him as possible and if he isn't any better by noon tomorrow you come and get me."
Before Kei was able to respond she was dragging him out of the building, apparently to rush away, only adding, "And you need to come see me in three days to get your eyes checked." before she left him there.
He managed to get back to the room fairly quickly, grabbing a glass of water for the other boy to take the pills with on the way and into the room. He set the packet on the desk, not bothering to put his glasses on as he deciphered by feel and a vague blur of color which were which. Thank gods they were all shaped different; this way he could be confident that he had them correctly.
A moment later he was at Ialu's bed again, nudging the boy to wake him up (though he couldn't be sure Ialu was asleep really...) since he had both hands definitely full at the moment. "She gave me pills for you to take."

Ialu finally came to, after he was shoved by his roommate. He groaned and tried to sit up, clutching his stomach as he did so. He eyed the pills in Kei outstretched hand, and picked them up one by one, cautious not to touch any skin. He stared at the pills, now in his hand and counted them. "Are you sure you're not trying to kill me? Why do I have to take so many!?" His stomach panged again, and he raised his hand to stop the Er Rit from answering. "Nevermind." He popped all of them in his mouth and swallowed them dry, wanting the pain to go away immediately.
This really was miserable. As a child, Ialu had rarely gotten sick. And if he was, his mother was there at his bedside, wringing water out of cloths for his forehead. He plopped back down onto his bed, feeling exhausted and nauseous. "Guess I can't help you with history today, huh?" he smiled weakly at the albino boy. He stared at the boy's ears before he remember his own cat, still stuck in his cage, bored to death. "Seb! Ahhh.... not a good idea to get up..," he winced. He was probably going to have to leave his tabby in the cage. He'd be fine since he had an extra food bowl and water with him. He also had a few toys in there.
The pain in his stomach was starting to boil down, and let out a sigh of relief. "Thanks... for helping me out," he said awkwardly. It was strange to let a thank you pass his lips.

Kei was almost glad that Ialu had suddenly realized the possible reason for quite so many pills. "I think only the red are pain pills. The others do something else." He paused for a moment, holding out the water, "You need to drink. Even if you don't think you do."
The Er Rit's ears flicked as he tried to think of a good reason to explain why. If the other boy didn't get sick often... "If you threw up you'll be dehydrated, which'll make you feel sicker. And... well throwing up without any liquid really hurts. And it takes longer." He rubbed his free hand through his hair, trying to think of something else to say when the other boy spoke again.
Kei moved away for a moment, hand searching over the desk before he found his glasses, slipping them on again and going to perch on the end of Ialu's bed. "You're welcome." He said, just as awkwardly since really, him having anything to do with other people to the point that they would thank him was really strange for the albino. "We don't have to go to class tomorrow anyway." He added belatedly, figuring it was probably a good thing to say. "The nurse wants me to keep an eye on you, so just as long as you're feeling better by noon we'll both have the day off."
He was tempted to just leave it at that, even though he had pretty clearly heard the note in the other boy's voice when he mentioned his cat... but the Er Rit could sympathize with the feline a bit. Even liking to sleep a bunch, being literally trapped in a room somewhere was tolerable at best, totally intolerable when they knew they were supposed to get out... "I can go get Seb for you." He offered reluctantly, "Just so long as someone can lead me to his cage." Hopefully that last part wouldn't be too obvious... Well he obviously didn't know the way to wherever the pets were kept...

Ialu waved his hand dismissively at the albino boy. "Nah nah, it's fine. Seb will be a little mad, but it's okay. I couldn't take care of him right now anyways.." He closed his eyes and rested his arms over his forehead, other hand on his stomach. The boy was feeling a little bit hungry since he had thrown up his food earlier, but he was sure he wouldn't be able to keep it in any ways. Ever since he had taken the pills, the twisting pain had stopped, but he was left feeling nauseous, like he was on a boat in the sea. Probably was poisoned after all, he though and frowned.
His mind wandered to his roommate who had gone silent since then. Ialu wouldn't be surprised if the boy had fallen asleep on his own bed. He opened his eyes, and turned his head towards his paint-covered friend. That's right... Ialu had missed rehearsals to puke into the school's toilet. He grimaced, still tasting it in his mouth.
Being in a play wasn't half as bad as he expected it to be. He wouldn't have to touch anyone, and acting wasn't too be either. The only bad part was he had to memorize things and Ialu wasn't exactly the master of that. He had to study his lines an hour a day before he could pass out on his own bed. And most of the time he had no help from his sleeping beastman roomie.
"Do you mind getting me some water?"

Kei moved away from the bed to set the glass back on the desk as Ialu spoke, figuring that if the other boy either didn't want it or hadn't been paying attention when offered it, he'd just wait and try again later. Maybe once the pills were dissolved in the other boy's stomach. At least one of them had to be for feeling sick... if to counter the effects of the painkiller if nothing else... or maybe Kei was strange that those always made him feel bad.
The Er Rit didn't bother arguing about Seb... he had a feeling it was going to be like his siblings had been when grounded though: all claws and angry indignant aloofness and generally trying to make whoever told them they had to stay in their rooms feel horrible. Kei's response had always just been glares and the silent treatment, but he tended to spend most of his time just sleeping somewhere anyway so it wasn't as bad.
At the question Kei hid a smile. Partly because wanting something to drink probably meant that Ialu was feeling at least better enough to focus on something other than the pain, partly because... Well for one he wasn't the blind one. He picked the glass of water back up, moving around to the side of the bed and holding it out again, "I already did, I tried to give it to you earlier but I don't think you noticed." He paused, head tilting, "Can you sit up without feeling sicker?"
He doubted that the other boy would really want to be doing any much moving for the rest of tonight. Probably not the next day either... Mealtime was going to be interesting tomorrow. He wasn't sure if Ialu had ever actually been restricted to just little bits of tasteless things that wouldn't upset his stomach before.

Ialu paused, thinking if he could try and sit up. He desperately needed water, and if he didn't then that would mean that Kei would try and help him. He nodded, and slowly pushed himself into a sitting position. He groaned a bit, feeling his weight shift to his stomach, and slowly reached over for the cup. He sipped at his water, feeling his parched throat rehydrate. He finished half the glass, then handed it back to the Er Rit, collapsing back into a laying position. That was sure a work out, and his stomach was disagreeing with it as a wave of nausea hit him again.
He sniffed, feeling sorry for himself. Here he was, practically dying on the bed and thousands of miles away from his mother. At least there was someone here to take care of him, but still. Keiani was mysterious and hard to figure out sometimes though. Ialu didn't like that much, since it gave him the lower hand. At least they got along well, and avoided each other when they could. He wondered if Kei had any family. The boy looked pretty wealthy the first time they met. He probably lived in a nice big mansion with maids and servants.
Ialu took to staring at the boy again, glad that the albino could hardly see anything. A blush crept over his face as he thought about how good looking the other boy was. Even some boys in their classes agreed with Ialu as they often stared and whispered about the new boy. If he has any siblings, they're probably just as good looking..

Kei watched carefully -- or, well as carefully as he could, which involved staring through his good eye at Ialu's face watching for the blob to start to move in a way that meant falling or... well he was watching through his ears for anything that might signal him needing to grab the trash can pronto.
At least with water it wouldn't be as bad as without. Dry heaves were horrible. Utterly horrible.
He turned away for a moment after Ialu handed back the cup, tail flicking as he set it gently on his own dresser instead of going all the way down to Ialu's. The glass was clear, but he was pretty sure he'd be able to find it again. It wasn't like there were many things sticking up from his dresser after all.
His ears flicked as he turned back to the other boy, trying to figure out little bits form the noise they heard... unfortunately that really wasn't much, so Kei stayed rather awkwardly silent for a moment -- he really wasn't used to taking care of other people -- before asking, "Have the pills kicked in yet..." He paused, peering at the other boy, "I guess they must've, since you don't seem to be feeling as bad..."

Ialu sighed and replied. "Feeling better, I guess. Anyway, I'm tired and I'm gonna sleep now. You should too.. but keep the trashcan near me!" He turned his body around so he was facing the wall, and he cuddled underneath his warm blankets, feeling sleep grab at him already.
--
Morning finally came, and the egyptian boy stirred awake. He rubbed his face groggily, eyes still closed, wanting to go back to sleep. It wouldn't happen of course. Once he was awake, he normally stayed awake. He opened his eyes and yawned, noticing that his stomach wasn't hurting anymore. Ialu grinned, and pulled back his covers and stretched before jumping out of bed. Keiani was still asleep (of course) and Seb needed to be let out, so he sneaked out of the room and headed to the cages.
Seb was furious with him, and he hissed and bit the tanned boy's hand when he reached in to grab him. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I was sick!" He hugged his beloved cat close to him and laid the small feline in his litter box so he could do his business. He soon returned to the room, and changed out of his uniform which he had slept in, happy that he didn't have to attend classes today. Though he still had homework from yesterday, so he shuffled through his book bag and pulled out a large mathematics book and frowned.

When Kei slowly came awake and peeked out of his bundle of warm blankets, he almost paniced seeing the bright light before he remembered that he didn't have to go to class today... Given the circumstances that had made that possible he probably shouldn't have been as happy about that.
Following his train of thoughts he glanced over to Ialu's bed, reaching up to grab his glasses and slip them on. After a couple moments of focusing his eyes, it didn't look like anyone was there... maybe he wasn't feeling as bad today?
Kei slipped out of bed, moving over to the pile of blankets on the other bed and peering closely at them before he realized that no, Ialu really wasn't there... "It must've been food poisoning or something then... Or just not attacking at him right now." He muttered aloud, dragging a hand through his hair in bemusement. A quick (rather belated) look about the room showed the boy to truely not be anywhere in there... so Kei did the predictable and went back to curl up in his covers.
Only he wasn't there for long. The boy was usually adept at going back to sleep at any point in time when he was able... but in all the confusion he hadn't gotten a chance to shower the day before. If memory served him right, he probably still had dried paint smeared all over his pale cheek and his hair felt rather gross.
With a strangled half meow of frustration he slipped back out of bed, grabbing a random set of clothes from the drawer and a towel, heading off towards the showers. If he waited, there would be other people in there. And he knew there were random people who stared at him, even if there were curtains separating the showers, it was rather squicky. You'd think that after a couple of weeks people would have gotten used to the random white cat they were sharing bathroom space with.
The feel of warm water through his hair and fur was a rather nice one, and it was all to soon that he was clean and getting out of the warm water, the cool air feeling rather uncomfortable as he grabbed for his clothes.
Or what he thought were clothes. Turned out that he'd managed to grab pants but not a shirt... He paused for a moment, bemused as he pulled on the pants, then came to the conclusion that the other way around would have probably been worse... at least he had done it on a day where no one was out in the halls.
That in mind he quickly made his way back to the room, slipping into the door and glanced around, seeing an Ialu-shape there... It looked like the other boy was studying something... "You needed help with math, right?"

Ialu stared hard at his book. This.. was making no sense to him. It was like reading a completely different language. He let out an anguished cry and flopped dramatically over his book making his messy wavy bangs fall over his eyes. Keiani had left to go shower without a word, so Ialu was helplessly lost with the math work in front of him. He turned around in his chair and watched Seb nibble at his food.
"You needed help with math, right?"
He swiveled in his chair to answer the other boy but was caught short by the image in front of him. Keiani was shirtless showing his fair porcelain skin off, and he was practically still dripping with water from just leaving the showers. Ialu blushed a bright red and looked down at his books immediately, trying to get rid of the thoughts of a dripping, beautiful cat boy.
"Er.. y-yea. I'm a little .. stumped," he stumbled over his words. He tried to get a grip of himself. After all, Keiani was just another boy, a partial human being at that. One that could completely betray him. and hurt him. He wasn't going to get hurt again.

The tone of the other boy's voice as he answered was a little worrying to the Er Rit... though at least he knew it wasn't something caused by whatever Ialu had been sick with the day before, since the same thing had happened before... And hell if he could get even an inkling of what it might be caused by. It was utterly confusing and he didn't understand it.
"Kai." He answered, rubbing the worst of the water from his hair -- it left it messy, but at least now it wouldn't drip over the other boy's homework -- and tossing the towel off onto the floor by his bed where it could more or less dry. Adjusting his glasses he moved to besides the other boy, starting leaning down to look at the book and twisting his head to look at the other boy out of his good eye.
He stopped frowning, and exclaimed, "Your face is all flushed! You aren't getting feverish are you?" Kei straightened a little, still staring at Ialu's face and trying to fathom why the color had just changed... or had it just changed? Maybe it had been like that and he hadn't been able to notice because he wasn't close enough... Darnit if the other boy came down with a fever they could have prevented that was going to be really bad.

With the fact that Keiani had noticed Ialu's blush in the first place, made the boy blush even further. He cleared his throat, and stared hard at his book. "It's n-nothing! I'm fine." He squirmed, feeling how close the albino boy was to him. If he even got accidentally touched, he would surely go into a panic attack. He strategically moved himself over one space so he was only a few inches away from the wall, and the book was in between himself and Kei.
He pointed to a problem that was giving him well.. problems, hoping that the Er Rit could see where his finger was placed. "This one's hard. I don't get it..," Really. Math. Living in the desert for most of his life required little math. All that he needed to know was that they needed water to survive. And they would have to hunt and fight for their food.
With his roommate so close, the tanned boy could smell his cleaned hair. It was a nice light scent, probably because Keiani had over an over-sensitive. It reminded him of the lily shampoo his mother used when they would find an oasis to bathe in, and a smile ghosted over his lips.

"Are you sure?" Kei asked, peering closer at the other boy. It looked like he was even redder now! "If you're catching a fever that's really bad..."
He was tempted to press it, since, well, fever probably meant something contagious... but if he already had the fever then Kei would have already either caught it or or not. So no sense in that aspect of it. And he doubted he'd be able to make Ialu do anything about it.
With a small sigh he started to turn his attention back to the math book, figuring that was something he at least could help with. Only as his eyes shifted he could see his roommate moving a bit away from him and frowned... though it was pretty possible that Ialu was just trying to make it easier for the other boy to see the book he supposed. It still made his ears flick half in annoyance half... he wasn't really sure what the other half was.
Kei tucked some his his loose hair up over his ears (humans didn't know how easy they had that) as he leaned down, staring at the problem for a moment before grabbing a pencil. A quick glance around for the white of Ialu's paper proved it to be closer to the other boy, so he moved that was a bit to scribble on the edge of the other boy's paper where no writing was, "You do it kinda like that. There's a harder way to do it too actually, but that one's easiest."
It vaguely crossed his mind that he should probably try to find a shirt... but that would take awhile and it wasn't cold enough to bother him yet.

Ialu squinted at the chicken scrawl that Kei had scribbled down, and chuckled. "You have horrible handwriting, but thanks! This helps some...," He worked through the problem slowly, pausing several times to count with his fingers. It was taking him twice as long as usual, since he could still feel the other boy watching him closely behind him, making sure he was doing everything correctly. He sighed with relief once the problem was finished, and rubbed the back of his head. "Finished! Jeez, that was too hard!"
He avoided looking at the albino boy, and acted like he was starting on his next problem. "So, you needed help on reading history right?" Reading was easy for Ialu. Though he didn't necessarily obtain any information, reading for the class and other people wasn't nerve-wracking in the least for him. Also being a naturally loud person helped out a bit too.

Kei didn't bother to answer the comment about his handwriting. He knew he had horrible handwriting, it was fairly unavoidable with how he could see... technically he was capable of writing neatly, but that meant the Er Rit had to somehow manage to write and have his face too closer for it at the same time, going slow as a snail. Not exactly the thing he needed to be doing right now.
"It's not that bad when you get the hang of it. Kinda like a puzzle or something." He said, moving to look over Ialu's shoulder. He couldn't have seen what problem the other boy was working on, but if it was from the same basic part of the book it was probably from the same section, so if the other boy had problems with it he could always just explain it aloud. If it was from another he'd have to bend close to read and figure out what the other was doing again.
He was about to ask when the other boy offered to help him with history. He paused, his ear flicking and causing the hair it had been holding to fall in front of his eyes, "Yes, but it can wait until after you're done with math if you'd like."

Ialu wanted to let out a groan, but he held it in. His progress on his math went painfully slow, and Keiani kept glancing over the tanned boy's shoulder to check his answers. Finally though, it came to an end and Ialu smiled triumphantly. He would've finished much sooner without Kei's help. (though most of them would've been wrong.. still, it done with)
"Alright! History time..," he grunted as he lifted out a heavy yellow textbook from his bag. He flipped to the needed page, and scanned over it briefly before looking up at the albino boy to wait for a signal for him to start. They had done this a few times. Ialu would read while Keiani would lay on his bed and try not to fall asleep.
"The Great Disaster of Lepudum started with the year's drought..."

Kei backed away a bit as the other boy finished, rather glad that he had been able to help with all of it. Math was one of the few classes that he was really good at. Apparently that differed from most of the other boys in this school, but he liked how he could fit the numbers together with his eyes closed and it was the same as if he did it on paper.
It vaguely crossed his mind that he ought to have a shirt on... but changing would have required searching for a shirt and then getting it on, which would have made it so the other boy would have to wait on that. Whether there was a shirt easy to grab or one he would have to dig after for awhile wasn't something he knew (he tried to keep organized. He really did). So instead Kei moved over to his bed, flopping down on his side and cushioning his head on one of his arms.
His tail flicked as the other boy started to read and he tried to concentrate on the words. Back when Ialu had first offered to help him (since he had fallen asleep over the textbook yet again) he had been tempted to refuse... but the Er Rit was glad he hadn't. This way he was still sleepy, but at least his head didn't hurt, and as long as he didn't start to fall asleep he actually learned more from listening that from reading.
And he liked Ialu's voice. He'd found himself not worrying as much about rushing to try to finish in history simply because always having reading to finish, while somewhat embarrassing, did at least mean that his roommate would be reading it to him.
