Ialu plopped onto his bed and ran a hand down his face, sighing.. "I have to be in it for community service. They think it'll keep me out of trouble. It probably won't, but yea. You'll be doing set-work and stuff. Painting, behind the scenes .." He played with one of his braids, feeling off that he had to talk to Keiani to get him to relax and trust him. The egyptian boy was feeling restless, and he felt like going to the sports facility to work on his fencing for a bit.
"Erm.. I'm gonna go fence for a bit... Are you gonna stay here or..?" He stood up and Seb walked over, mewing lightly and rubbing against Ialu's leg. He stayed quiet and watched his roommate's tail move side to side. He held back an urge to reach out and grab it. It looked so fluffy! He looked away, blushing lightly and crossed his arms, hugging himself.
He stomach growled in complaint again and he grimaced. He wasn't sure if he would fight his best on an empty stomach, but he needed to do something instead of staying in this dreadful room.

Kei felt a little more relaxed as the other boy answered, tail swishing rather lazily behind him as he shifted again on his covers. That would be an explanation for Ialu going to see Miss Laney at least; it wasn't like her job only entailed the supposedly disabled students; there weren't enough of them. She probably helped with discipline or something like that.
He his ears flickered a little as the other boy went on to say what Kei could do, the relaxed feeling receding as he tried to imagine what would happen if he did attempt something like that. Chemistry had been a pretty good example of what happened when he tried something that required sight... but maybe if he managed to do that without completely screwing up Miss Laney would get off his back about the whole thing. After a moment he just muttered, "Maybe." and left it at that, going still again as his roommate started speaking.
"I'm not..." then paused, and started again, "I have some reading I have to get finished tonight, I should probably just stay here and start on that." He had been about to say that he wasn't any good at that sort of thing and would just be in the way, but figured that the first was rather obvious, and the second just rather mopey. Sure, he was that most of the time, but it didn't mean he had to emphasize it.
He moved to sprawl out on his bed, tail hanging down off of the edge of it as he tugged his bag open and started pulling out the horrible history book. Kei paused as he heard the other boy's stomach, setting the history book on the bed and reaching back into it to grab out one of the remaining pieces of fruit, this one kinda orangey. Silently he held it out towards the other boy, propping himself up on an elbow with the other hand. Might as well not let them go to waste, and he still had another one to eat.

Ialu pushed aside the strange feeling of disappointment when the other boy decided he was going to stay and study. Ch, he can do what he wants.. "Ah, okay.. that's fine." He slugged over to his dresser, rustling through until he found his fencing clothes, pulling them out in a heap.
He looked back at Kei, finding the boy holding out an orange. He smiled but raised his hands in refusal. "Nah, it's fine. It's only an hour till dinner anyhow. I'll make it." He grabbed his helmet, and stuffed the shirt and pants into his school bag after dumping the contents on to his bed. "See ya." He walked out of the room, feeling uneasy.
--
The walk across the campus was nice, especially with the sun just starting to set. He watched from the sports facility door as the last of the sun trickled down some hills, then turned on his heels and entered the building. He could hear shuffling of feet on wooden floors as other clubs practiced hard with their teams. Ialu poked his head into the locker room, smiling when he found it empty. He placed his bag on a bench and removed his pants and bandaged his arms and shins tightly just incase he would sprain it. He buttoned on his fencing uniform next, then gloves, then pants. He held his helmet against his hip with his forearm, and walked out of the locker.
There were a pair of fencers already dueling, and one tall boy leaning against the mirrored wall. Ialu chose a foil that suited him and nodded to the boy watching the duel, to fight him.

Kei let the orange fall back into the bag as the other boy left, saying a belated, "Bye" to the closing door. His roommate's answer to Kei's refusal to go had almost sounded... disappointed. Or maybe just something close to it. Maybe the other boy had wanted someone to spar with... in which case it was a really good thing Kei hadn't gone, since he would've just clutzed up everything. He did that a lot when he tried to do something new.
Of course, that brought back the possibility of the whole play thing back into his mind and that just made him uneasy. He had a sinking feeling that if he did try something like that he'd either end up making it painfully obvious just how little he could see and actually function... or do the same thing and be mocked for it, which was almost worse than being led around.
Pushing the thoughts out of his mind, he slipped on his glasses, opening the book to the page he'd marked with a bookmark and laying it flat in front of him, propping himself awkwardly on his elbows more or less above it; close enough that he could see the words and wasn't getting too much in the way of the overhead light that was allowing him to read. It was uncomfortable to study this way... but really he got to choose whether his shoulders got to hurt or his eyes did.
He stayed like that for a bit, managing to slowly get through about about of what he was supposed to read before haphazardly deciding to take a break... He had no idea what time it was but he assumed that Ialu would be back before dinner started.
Not wanting to go to sleep, really just wanting to rest his eyes, he folded his arms over the book, nestling his head onto them and letting his eyes flicker closed for a wonderful bit of relief from the strain of reading. It wasn't exactly comfortable with his head over the thick book like this... but maybe that would keep him from sleeping until it became dinnertime.
That firmly in his mind, it was rather inevitable that he quickly drifted off into a half sleep.

"Alright everyone! Let's take a five minute break!" Ialu let out a sigh of relief, and walked to the edge of the stage, sitting down and letting his feet dangle off the side. They had been at this for an hour and a half already. He really hated stuff like this. It was pointless, but he had to do it or else. Besides, it wasn't like his mom would be able to come and see. The skinny senior boy who played Titania wandered over to where the egyptian boy was sitting, and handed him a water bottle.
"Good work today, Ialu!" He smiled brightly. The boy was quite pretty, even he understood why he was chosen to play the fairy queen. He nodded to his upperclassman in thanks, and stood up. He could hear the shuffling of feet and the working of hammers as the backstage and set crew raced to get everything done for the approaching deadline.
Ialu walked to the back, and narrowly avoided being hit in the head with a long plank of wood that was being transported to the other side. He growled and cursed at whoever it was that was being careless, and went in search for Keiani. The Er Rit had surprisingly gone along with Ialu's idea, happy to get some extra credit. Backstage work was fairly easy for him, since most things were color-coded, although he still had trouble seeing in such poor lighting.
"Anyone seen Kei?" the tan boy almost snorted at how he sounded. Now they were actually on first name terms, even nickname terms.

Kei carefully set his paintbrush down, edging out of the way as another team came by him with wood and such towards the section of backstage where they were sawing and building set pieces. He was probably speckled with streaks of green paint that had somehow managed to get onto him instead of the backdrop, which would apparently appear to be covered with leaves once the light techs had gotten all of their filters worked out and the commands written.
While the actors rehearsed, the set crew actually worked on building the thing. Kei hadn't seen most of it (and not only because of his sight, though that was a factor), but apparently after all the lines were memorized and everything was built they'd start on the real rehearsals.
Kei actually had a place in those, according to the stage manager. He knew he would have to memorize where he had to be for each scene and hope to god he didn't mess it up... but at least they had found something for him to do. Really the only horribly bad thing was that the stage manager had apparently been informed the truth about Kei's eyesight, and subsequently told his assistant stage manager. The older boy that choreographed what they all did actually was fairly nice about it... but it was the assistant who insisted on coddling the albino. The boy probably thought that he was being nice and Kei was just being an ass about it... well, Kei supposed that threatening to paint him and blame blindness was rather mean...
He glanced up as a shout came from the direction the wood had come, catching the sound of someone saying, "Keiani's over there!" and schooling the grimace from his face, hoping that it wasn't one of the stage managers.
Maybe it would be Ialu. Amazingly enough, Kei had actually started to relax around the other boy, almost to the point of being friends, though he wasn't sure about that since he hadn't ever really had any friends that he could compare this too.

He smiled when he caught sight of the albino boy. He was wearing a large white smock and had green paint smeared on one side of his face where he probably tried to scratch. "Hi. Lunch time~," Ialu exclaimed excitedly. If he could, he would've pulled Keiani by the hand to the cafeteria, but he couldn't without hyperventilating, so he didn't.
The director called to Ialu, and he groaned. "One second." Jogging over to the man, his mood dropped. "What is it now?" The director droned on about how he needed to be more into it, and blah blah blah. The dark haired boy growled, and rushed him to finish, and walked back to his roommate thoroughly annoyed. "Let's go now. Oh, you might wanna wipe off that green glob off your face first," he grinned and threw a towel at the Er Rit's face, chuckling.
Ialu felt calm leaning against a stack of wood, next to Keiani who was starting to wipe his face. He studied the boy's ears and facial features, before he caught himself and blushed widly. He moved away from the cat boy, like he could see the red tinge on his cheeks at any time. "R-right, let's go then."

Kei's ears pricked as Ialu spoke, identifying the voice fairly easily and feeling rather relived... the other boy really did obsess about food though. Kei had probably eaten more frequently than he ever had in his life since coming here, just because of Ialu dragging him down to the cafeteria.
Granted, he'd also been spending more time awake and moving than he ever had before. It was... well it was rather exhausting really. Between school things, and Ialu, and now this... He probably slept half of what he did at home, even if he still hadn't mastered that whole getting up in time for breakfast thing. Stupid people wanting him to wake up for so long and actually be aware of the world around him.
As Ialu suddenly responded to the directors call, another one went out for lunchtime for stagecrew. Kei pulled off his smock, carefully folding it and setting it where he could find it later; as soon as he had done so he reached down and grabbed the brush still full of green paint, simply wrapping that up so that it wouldn't be ruined by the time he came back. That would never be fun.
He simply growled at the other boy -- trusting that by now Ialu knew it wasn't actually something threatening, just Kei being disgruntled -- as the towel hit his face, catching it before it fell and carefully taking off his glasses, holding them in one hand and shutting his eyes as he rubbed off (at least he hoped he did) the green paint. A couple moments later the towel was being set with the smock and his glasses being slipped back on.
"Alright." He said calmly, running a (hopefully paint free) hand over his hair and starting towards the door to outside before he paused, ears twitching as they caught a... rather odd note in the other boy's voice, "Are you alright?" He asked, head twisting to look at the Ialu-blob.

Ialu waved his hand dismissively. "It's nothing..." The boy found it ridiculous how easily Kei could get him completely flustered. Lately, all it took was one look or small smile to get a nice rosy blush to graze his face. He walked ahead of the boy, but slow enough where the Er Rit could still see his back. He hugged himself, feeling vulnerable all of the sudden as he exited the auditorium. He cleared his throat, and shook his head, releasing his wrapped arms.
"A-anyway, how's the set work going?" he changed the subject, wanting to get rid of the weird air that had invaded around them. He stuffed his hands in his pockets as they continued to walk, a cool breeze hitting his face. They weren't too far from the cafeteria now. The egyptian boy's mind briefly wandered to homework. He had some tonight. Normally, he wouldn't do it, but he saw how studious Keiani was, and Ialu was competitive. He would probably have to read history out loud for the cat boy again, since Keiani always ended up falling asleep when he attempted to read his books.

Kei had an odd feeling that it wasn't nothing... and was utterly confused as to what it could be. The other boy was so... well Kei hadn't seen anything really set Ialu off balance any other time. His roommate seemed to generally be in trouble or in self assured (usually both) and it was just random moments when he was with Kei that he seemed to get flustered or something. And the Er Rit would be damned if he had any idea what he was doing to cause it.
Maybe it was something that happened with other people too, he just couldn't see well enough to spot it happening. That would make more sense... or maybe other people just couldn't hear well enough to spot the random points in time when Ialu's tone changed like it just had.
"Good I guess." He answered with a shrug, "I've just been painting random things." For the moment he figured that ignoring the odd tone would be fore the best. After all, the other boy had already answered that it was nothing once, and he doubted that answer was going to be changing so soon. "I keep getting paint on me though," He added with a grimace as they neared the area the dining hall was in, "though I suppose you noticed that."
The albino slowed as the reached the doors to the cafeteria, actually feeling a little bit hungry at the smells of whatever food drifted out... which wasn't too surprising since he, yet again, hadn't eaten breakfast.

Once the smell of food reached Ialu's nose, his troubled thoughts left him, and all he could think about was how much he wanted chicken strips. "Come on! The line's growing!" He bounced to stand in line, practically wiggling his butt in delight. He grabbed a tray and filled it full of mashed potatoes, juicy chicken strips, salad and a few fruit bowls. He showed the lady at the end taking up money his special tag on his jacket, specifying that he didn't have to pay for lunch since his mother couldn't afford it, and hummed as he skipped to take a seat at an empty table. He stabbed the meat and ripped it to shreds with his teeth, smiling sweetly at Keiani, who was probably grossed out.
They ate in relative silence, listening to the buzz of people chattering away. In five minutes flat, Ialu was finishing up the last one his potatoes, and began happily on his fruit bowls. Fruit was soo good. His favorite was peaches. They were so sweet and delightful! He scooped a large amount with his spoon, some contents spilling over the side and shovelled it into his mouth. Some juice dribbled down the side of his mouth that went unnoticed as he scooped up some more fruit.
"Hey! Can you help me with some homework when we're done with rehearsal? I don't understand it...," he said loudly as if Keiani was deaf.

Kei just shook his head as his roommate bounded ahead of him, following a bit slower towards the line and staying quiet, keeping his tail still since it flicking seemed to attract attention a lot of the time. All in all, his salad and single fruit probably looked like starvation to the other boy. Granted Kei had grabbed more for later -- it was a habit he had gotten into lately -- but still; even he could see that Ialu was eating a veritable mountain of food.
He obviously didn't even notice the other boy's attempt to gross him out... though it likely would have worked had he been able to see. Instead he concentrated on his own food, knowing from the last week that keeping his mind on eating was the only way he could even hope to be half done by the time his roommate somehow inhaled his food. "Do you even taste what you eat?" He asked softly, glancing over to the swash of color that was the other boys tray. It had started out covered with food colors, now it was more a tray and plate color again. He played with his salad before continuing to work on that, it was rather amusing really.
The level of Ialu's voice as the other boy sudden spoke caused his ears to lie flat back, him hiding a grimace as he muttered, "These furry things on my head are better at hearing than yours you know." before mentally shaking the annoyance away. That really didn't get him very far, and it would just make him eat even slower. After a moment he answered, "Sure... I need some help on history too if that would be alright." Kei could feel his face heating up a little as he said the last, but he suppose he'd have to just ignore it. Short of magically making the history book bigger there wasn't really much else he could do.

Ialu huffed and answered, "Of course I taste what I eat! Otherwise I wouldn't like food so much!" Ialu licked away the juice that had dribbled down his face, just noticing it and put down his spoon, leaning back feeling content. "Of course it's fine! I need help on math..,"
He watched Keiani as he picked at his salad and rolled his eyes. It really was a wonder how that boy wasn't stick thin. In fact, Ialu noticed that the Er Rit's build was actually much bigger compared to Ialu's skinny, lanky limbs and toned, skinny body. He frowned. It wasn't fair at all! He didn't even think that Kei had participated in any sports at all, and he was still bigger than the egyptian boy.
He stared at the albino boy's ears, watching them flick every once in a while at the changes in the air. He rested his head on his forearms on the table, leaning forward. "You know? I think Seb has taken a big liking to you. There's not many cats in the academy, or Er Rit's, so Seb thinks you're his playmate."

There was a little bit of doubt in the Er Rit's mind as to if Ialu actually could taste the food, despite assertions otherwise... but he let it lie. Stupid thing to try to contradict, especially since Kei had never engulfed his food like his roommate could, for all he knew the other boy really could taste it... probably not savor it, but whatever.
Kei was fairly relieved at which subject the other boy needed help in; he was good at math. He could work on math without seeing it at all, provided that he knew what he was starting from and what he was aiming for. It wasn't even like writing where he had to try to keep what he was writing confined in the lines. As long as it didn't overlap and was all in one clump with the answer circled, the teacher didn't really care how messy his work pages were.
His roommate's next comment took him by surprised, and he paused in eating -- though he was almost completely done by now -- to look over at the other boy. "I suppose he has... I haven't actually been around normal cats all that much, so I wouldn't really have been able to be sure..." He shooks his head and grinned "With how he likes to attack my tail when I'm not paying attention I figured it was either that or he just really didn't like my fur."

Ialu smiled into the sleeve of his shirt. "I like animals," he said, words muffled. "They're cute, and playful, but most importantly, they can't hurt me..." His eye went wide when he realized what he had just let out and he sat up. "Uhh, I'm gonna go back to the auditorium." The boy stood up robotically, and quickly escaping the stare of his roommate. He felt a wave of sickness come over him as he pushed the dining hall door open. Clutching his stomach, he ran as fast as he could to the bathroom and threw up everything he had just eaten.
The egyptian boy groaned and flushed the toilet, slumped over it. He wiped his mouth with some toilet paper and threw it carelessly into the bowl in front of him. He lifted himself up with shaky knees and headed to the sink to splash his face with water. Why did he just say that outloud? He was so stupid, and didn't even know how it just flowed out of his mouth unfiltered. Kei would definitely be asking him some questions once they were back in their room. He leaned miserably against the sink, letting the water run.

Kei let his fork drop in surprise as Ialu suddenly said he was leaving, eyes shifting to stare at the other boy in confusion. For all the albino knew, they'd been having a completely normal conversation then suddenly something had obviously gone wrong with the other boy. It had to be something wrong. Ialu hadn't even taken his tray, had just disappeared into the mass of students to head out.
Maybe there had been something he'd had to do and he'd suddenly remembered? Only Ialu didn't seem the type to stress over things like that... not to the point that he would actually run off like that.
For a moment Kei wondered if maybe it was something he had said that had set the other boy off... but he couldn't think of anything that would have done that. If it were someone random he would wonder if the person had suddenly decided that talking about animals with a beast-man was awkward... but this was Ialu, and he'd never had any problems before with the difference between Kei and his cat. And again, it wouldn't make sense for him.
Not really hungry anymore, the Er Rit reached over, carefully stacking both his and Ialu's trays to put them on the belt towards cleaning. As he did so it occurred to him that maybe what had set the other boy off had been something visible... which was rather disturbing since it meant for all he knew the person or whatever could still be there. It wasn't like he'd be able to see it... Maybe one of the many people that Ialu had gotten into fights with? A teacher that really disliked him? Some of the less distinguishable food proving it's living state by rising up and eating someone?
He paused for a moment, unsure of what to do, then reluctantly started to head back to the auditorium. That was where his roommate had said he would be.

Ialu turned off the faucet and leaned against a wall nearby; slipping down until he was sitting against it. His legs couldn't hold him up anymore. He ran a hand down his face tiredly, deciding he was going to skip out on the rest of rehearsal. The plump director was most likely going to freak out, but at the moment, Ialu couldn't give a nyosik. He waited for twenty minutes on the bathroom floor just incase anyone came looking for him before he sat up and slugged his way to his room down the hall.
The tanned boy didn't even bother to go to the cages to take Seb out, but he went straight for the room, to his bed where he could pass out. He fell onto his bed, still in his uniform and curled on his side. He shut his eyes, feeling beads of sweat slip down his forehead. His stomach felt like it was twisting into knots, and he clutched desperately at it, groaning. "Mom....," he called out weakly, settling into an uneasy sleep.
--
"Has anyone seen Ialu? He's essential to this scene! Where in the heaven could he be? He's been gone for 15 minutes now!" The director paced around the stage nervously.
A shaggy haired boy peeked his head from backstage and pointed over his shoulder. "Keiani's his roommate. Maybe he could find him?"
"Brilliant! Mr. Keiani, would you happen to know where your little mischievous friend has gone?"

After not having been able to find the other boy, which wasn't too surprising since he hadn't wanted to ask around and unless Ialu made it obvious he was there Kei had no way of knowing, Kei had rather uneasily gone back to his painting. Of course, now the ASM was done with whatever the older boy had been working on before, so had taken on the idea of helping the little albino.
When he heard the director asking for Ialu he looked away from his work, but worried and somewhere in his mind glad for the excuse to not have to attempt to be polite to this person. Seriously, in what realm of thinking was it actually acceptable to tap a paintbrush on another person's face and tell them to lighten up? The human was just asking to lose fingers.
"I'll go see if I can't find him." He said, pulling off the apron (though this time he wouldn't have time to get the paint off of his face. Stupid green streak.) and handing his paintbrush to the other boy. Before he left he paused, saying, "I don't think he was feeling well earlier."
That wasn't exactly true, Kei had no idea what had been going on... but at least it gave Ialu and excuse. The director merely waved parts of his blob at the Er Rit, saying, "Fine. If he's actually sick get him to the nurse or something. Last thing we need is our Puck suddenly having to drop out at this point."
Kei assumed that at that point the attention shifted to something that could be done without Ialu, though he couldn't be positive since he was out the doors and heading towards their room, figuring that was one place to look.
---------------
He stopped in surprise as he got there, since on the white blob of Ialu's bed was definitely Ialu... unless someone with similar coloring had decided to invade their room.
For a moment he really wasn't sure what to do. Ialu was never the one sleeping; it was always Kei. Kei went to bed first, and generally was awoken by the impact of the other boy's pillow with his head.
Though that didn't seem to be the best solution right now. Instead he moved towards the Ialu-blob, reaching out a hand to tap his shoulder (if he really was sick then shaking probably wasn't the best idea), leaning towards his roommate and saying, "Are you alright?"

Ialu stirred when he felt a tap on his shoulder and awoke, feeling dizzy and spaced out. "Mom?" he called out and turned around to face who ever had tapped him. "I think i'm sick..," his eyes focused, finally and he stared up at the white haired boy. "Oh.. it's only you... yea. I don't feel good..," he said feeling disappointed that this wasn't his mom, and he wasn't sleeping in the coolness under a pitched tent on a cot. His body felt like it was on fire, plus his stomach was still squeezing itself to death. He groaned and fell back onto his pillow.
"I never get sick.. why now?" he whined, feeling exhausted and sweaty. He felt miserable and hopeless. The boy started to panic, feeling paranoid. Oh no. What if he died? "Keiani... if I die, you can have Seb. Take good care of him," he sniffed dramatically. "And, and make sure you call my mom and tell her what happened. And tell the director that I don't like him, but I'm sorry I died two weeks before opening night.."

Kei wasn't sure what he was expecting... but for the other boy to mistake him for his mother wasn't it. For a brief moment he was amused, then it hit him at about the same time that Ialu said it, that the other boy really was sick. Not so much of just an excuse after all... and that would explain why the other boy had run out of the dining hall so quickly.
He kept in a grimace at the memory of the sheer amount of food the other boy had consumed. That couldn't have been fun. And it had probably made all of it worse.
"That's just how luck works." He said, edging to perch on the very edge of Ialu's bed and looking the other boy over, trying to figure out just how sick the other boy was. He threaded a hand through his loose hair, hiding a grin at the boys rather melodramatic outburst. An actor and never getting very sick... yeah he supposed it worked out.
"You aren't going to die." He said, unable to keep a slight grin from flickering over his face before it disappeared. "I get sick all the time. Believe me, this isn't even that bad in comparison to some things." The Er Rit paused thinking for a moment that maybe having come back in wasn't the best idea... one of the side affects of never going outside or really doing much of anything had been that his immune system was extremely low... so if Ialu was actually sick with a virus then the albino would probably be getting it soon.
"Hopefully you just got food poisoning or something." He said aloud, quickly amending that with "At least then it'll be gone in a couple days max."
For a moment Kei merely watched the blob of his sick roommate, then he reached over and tugged on the other boy's pillow. "Do you know where the nurses office is? They'll have some things to give you that'll make you feel better." Hopefully with the amounts of fights the other boy got in he knew the way... and hopefully he could walk, since Kei was fairly sure he wouldn't be able to carry him there.
