"... And this was the end of the Beastmen War," Ialu finished with a small nod of the head. Keiani was probably asleep. He was the last time the egyptian had read to him, and it made Ialu annoyed, which led to a pillow to the head. Surprisingly though, the albino boy was still awake, tail swishing behind him lazily.
The boy's eyes trailed down the contours of the Er. Rit's upper body. His pale skin went nicely with his snow white hair and eyes. He really was good-looking, Ialu thought again and blushed. It made him a little envious. He had never considered himself to be very noticeable in the the looks area. (though he was constantly hit on, which still goes unnoticed) The thing that perplexed the tanned boy the most was that he was even staring so intently at the other boy's body so much in the first place.
"Need me to repeat anything?" Ialu's words came out strangled as he attempted to recompose himself.

Kei was vaguely amazed that he had actually managed to stay awake through the whole chapter. It wasn't really the threat of a pillow hitting him that kept him awake, he wasn't really too afraid of that... Though it was overly annoying to be suddenly awoken out of what was normally a rather odd dream to do with whatever the other boy had been reading and sometimes blurry representations of his roommate that he could never quite manage to remember much about other than the very very basics. Still, better than a book to his hip like that first time.
He stretched lazily as Ialu finished reading, both relieved that he had won the battle against sleep this time and a little disappointed that now he wasn't going to just be able to lay there and listen to the other boy talk. Though he supposed it wasn't really fair to Ialu to have him read so much, that was probably the only reason that he really did at least attempt to get some done in his history class.
"I think I've got most of it." He said, frowning at the tone and sitting up, running a hand through his hair to tame it back down... it really needed to be brushed now that it was dry. "We don't have any homework from yesterday for any of our other classes, do we? I can't remember."
Kei let his good eye flick over the Ialu-blob for a moment before he added, "Are you still feeling alright? You were supposed to take another dose of those pills this morning..."

"I'm fine!" Ialu snapped, but felt bad immediatebly after. "Ahh.. sorry...," he rubbed the back of his head and sighed. "We shouldn't have any work.." The boy scrambled around the small room to search for the pills, vaguely remembering where Keiani had placed them before he paced out last night. He finally found it under a stack of papers by his dresser, and popped them in his mouth, downing half a glass of water afterwards.
"Could you..," he blushed. ".. put on a shirt..." the last part of the sentence was barely a whisper since Ialu had taken to staring at the carpeted floor. Unconsciously, the boy hugged himself, feeling insecure again. It had been a long time since someone had gotten him to feel so vulnerable.

Kei was caught off guard by the tone, ears flicking to lie flat on his head in surprise as he stared at the other boy in consternation. Maybe Ialu was really worried about having to go to the nurse? Or maybe the mention of it had made his roommate suddenly realize that he felt bad. Kei'd had that happen to him before when he was sick.
That Ialu started to move about the room rather quickly seemed to support the second, and Kei felt his ears and tail relax a little, flicking, though he still kept staring. He couldn't actually see the other boy clearly at all, but he could at least follow the blob with his good eye and get a general idea of what Ialu was doing just from the sounds... He just hoped that Ialu had only taken one of the red pills, since there had been two extras in the packet. At least taking too many wouldn't actually hurt the other boy in that case... Maybe make him tired or woozy. How did people act when they'd had too many pills?
The Er Rit blinked at Ialu for a moment after the request, then he flushed, running and hand through his hair. "Yeah, sorry. I didn't realize it was bothering you or I'd've put one on earlier." Exactly why it was bothering Ialu he couldn't be sure... since he was fairly positive that the human was prone to running about sans his own shirt... But Kei wasn't going to ask since for some reason or another Ialu already seemed bothered enough.
At least now he wasn't interrupting anything by doing so, though it didn't make the process any quicker. Kei moved over towards his dresser, opening the right drawer and running his fingers rapidly through the clothes, searching for white and lots of buttons.

Ialu pursed his lip and sat down on his bed. They still a lot of time to waste before it was lunch time. Plus, they had no rehearsals today either. School really was a drag. There was always things to be done when he was still with his tribe. The tanned boy resolved that he would be spending his day fencing to train for an up coming school festival. A girl's school nearby was going to be invited as well. The school was already beginning to prepare. The art classes were building booths and decorating outside.
Opening night of the festival was also opening night of the play. Ialu bit his lip nervously. He had never acted in front of that many people before. He wasn't very scared to talk in public, so he was sure it wouldn't be a problem. Still there were butterflies in his stomach.
So... fencing, he thought again. This time though, he had to convince Keiani to come watch him. Or at least come to the sports facility building. He was sure that Keiani was good at some sort of sport...
"I'm gonna be fencing later... do you wanna come with? I don't think you've ever been there before."

Kei finally found a shirt, somewhat buried on the wrong side of the drawer -- how it had gotten there he wasn't sure. Sometimes he thought his clothing liked to deliberately mess with his head by moving itself while he wasn't there -- and pulled it out, undoing the buttons so he wouldn't have to take his glasses off to get it on. It took longer, by a lot, but it did make it so that he could actually have some idea of which part went wear by something other than feel.
As he was slipping it on and starting to button it he paused to listen to Ialu's question, turning and letting the shirt hang unbuttoned for a moment as he frowned, "I'd really just be in the way."
Kei lined up the bottom of the shirt, starting to slowly work his way up the buttons as he actually thought it over. He really hadn't ever been there before... mostly because there really was no point. He couldn't do sports; he couldn't even run with his glasses on lest he break them. And it wasn't like he could actually watch anyone else since he couldn't see them.
Granted it wasn't like he had anything else to do "I suppose now that we're done with homework I'd just stay here and sleep." He said, ears flicking in indecision. It really would be futile for him to go, but he supposed the other boy really couldn't know that.

Ialu let out a long breathe. Well, it was pretty useless to try and persuade Keiani from his sleep. Ialu was sure he'd be fine just as long as he wasn't caught walking to the sports facility by himself. "Nn, that's fine." The boy got his fencing uniform from the dresser after digging through his clothes, and stuffed it into his bag messily. Picking up his helmet from under his bed, he nodded at the other boy (as if he could see..) "Be back later then.."
The walk to the sports building took longer than usual. There were plenty of professors walking around to do one thing or another. But, he finally arrived and headed straight for the changing room. He suited up, and picked out a nice foil from the rack once again. There was only one person in the room when he stepped into the fencing room. The boy was practicing his stances, and Ialu watched quietly off to the side. Finally the other person noticed him, and took off his helmet with a smile. "Hey! You're the kid I dueled last week! Been a while since I've seen you around.."
"Yea..I've been busy." Immediately, the went into a duel. Ialu lost the majority of them from being sick the day before, and they took a break, both breathing heavily. The blonde boy sat down next to him, taking a chug from his water bottle. He kept on glancing at the egyptian who was unbuttoning his uniform. (really though! Too many buttons!)
Ialu looked up when the blonde senior placed both arms on either side of Ialu's head. He frowned and tensed up, sensing something very wrong about the air. "What are you doing?" he said darkly.

Kei curled up on his bed as Ialu left, tail flipping so it was over his legs and eyes starting to close. Sleep was sounding very good about now... Except that something was bugging him and he really wasn't sure what.
He lay there for a bit, probably long enough for Ialu to have reached the sports facility. Probably more than long enough in fact. Then he realized that what was bugging him was that he had let Ialu wander off to go tire himself out... the day after he had been so sick he couldn't move. Right after taking a bunch of medication. To play with rapiers (granted not sharp, but still).
Yeah, that was safe.
With a groan he rolled out of bed. Reluctantly glancing to the door and coming to the conclusion that Ialu probably wouldn't stop whatever he was doing at this point, and there really was no reason to really rush if he wouldn't be able to drag the other boy away. So instead of rushing out of the door he reached over and grabbed his hairbrush from his counter.
By the time he was done brushing his hair and fur more than enough time had passed, and he figured that there was really no use procrastinating, pulling on his shoes and slipping out the door. It didn't take him too long (or not longer than it usually too him to walk somewhere) to find the sports building, all things considered, and luckily the lady he asked for directions to where the fencing was didn't sound phased by the question.
When he got to that area he slipped along the wall, trying to listen for Ialu's voice since he didn't see another person with black hair on the top of the person-blob out fighting. When he finally did hear Ialu's voice he paused, frowning and moving closer. It didn't sound like the other boy was happy... sounded just the opposite actually, and when Kei pinpointed where the sound was coming from he realized that someone tall and definitely not his roommate was looming over the smaller boy. He would have assumed Ialu was getting into a (real) fight... except from the other boys words it didn't sound like it. Kei wasn't sure what it was... though apparently Ialu wasn't either.
"He doesn't like other people invading his space." He said, voice a half growl and eyes narrowing into a glare behind his glasses as he spoke. At least he was confident that he was more than close enough to be heard.

Too close. Too close. Too close. Ialu had stopped being able to think correctly as the blonde senior boy smirked and breathed on the egyptian boy's neck. The boy's head snapped behind him when he heard someone speak, and he glared at the albino Er Rit. Ialu hadn't noticed anything going on at the moment, and tried to get his breathing to calm down since he was starting to hyperventilate.
The blonde boy stood up, hands on hips with a smirk on his face. "What are you gonna do, sophomore?" The boy still had his foil on him, and he lifted it up, and arm extended out towards Keiani, warning him to stay back. His foil was missing the ball point on the end, and he smiled wickedly. "Who the jince are you anyways?"
Ialu heard arguing above him, but he had squeezed his eyes shut and curled into a ball. Too close. Too close. Almost touched me. The boy had long gone from the present and was reverting back to the past. The awful day when the moon was covered by clouds, and the tent was dark...

Kei kept his eyes focused on the blonde's face, ears flicking as he heard Ialu's breathing going quicker. He wasn't sure if Ialu was freaking out or it was the whole being sick and then exercise and then being threatened catching up with him... but he hand a feeling that getting this person away from Ialu was probably the best he could do at the moment.
He kept his own face more or less expressionless and his eyes unmoving. One of the few good things about his bad sight was that any threats were more hazy and not really there. Not until they actually hit him at least... Though in an extremely rare change of norm he was wishing that his brother had been sent to school with him. Sal had some sort of odd ability to know whenever Kei was in trouble and would have been there in an instant to prove that their teeth were sharp enough to cut. As it was... well at least he knew how to deal with bullies in his own way.
"If you hit me with that? I'll make it so you won't be allowed in the building. The administrators I've talked with know I wouldn't lie about something like that. And frankly it doesn't matter who you are, I promise if they know it's me you were threatening they'll take it seriously." The Er Rit tilted his head, mostly to get it out of the line of the shining point of the rapier he could see in from of him, not bothering to elaborate. There were a couple reasons that the adults here would take it seriously if he was hurt, not the least of which being his sight. It wouldn't exactly look good to his parents if the first time he dared to step foot in the facility he was purposefully hurt. If that happened the school would want to have the solution already implemented before his mother could even hint at bringing down all the intellectual hellfires at her disposal. Even if the teachers here wouldn't necessarily know that, he could fairly easily pull the whole terrified little almost blind kid act (much as he would utterly and completely hate having to use that) on them until they got them to someone who would actually do something.
His ears twitched as he heard voices out on the stairs and he was inwardly relieved. There was at least one adult on the stair about to come in.

A larger man with a full beard and mustache had his hands clasped behind his back, taking to a small group of students who were writing down notes frantically. "Here is where the art museum will be set up for the festival. You'll need to find as many light fixtures as possible to light it up." The man opened up the door to find three students, two of them tensed up like they just been arguing. He noticed the white haired boy immediately, and his eyes widened. "Ah! Mr. Keiani! Just the boy I was looking for! If the rest of you will leave while I have a chat with this bright young man for a few moments!"
The blonde boy rolled his eyes, walked towards the door anyways. He purposefully bumped into the Er Rit as hard as he could on his way out. Ialu, meanwhile, hadn't heard a word that was spoken, and he stayed in the small ball on the ground, hugging himself tightly with clenched teeth.

Kei's head swung to the side as the adult called out to him, feeling more than overly relieved at that. True he had absolutely no idea what the adult wanted or even who this person was... but it did sorta make his point to the other boy. Thank gods since he really hadn't wanted to have to go through getting beaten up in order to do so.
He almost fell as the other boy bumped into his shoulder, jumping to the side again and glaring after the blonde for a moment until he disappeared into a sea of burry color just like the rest of them. Then the Er Rit glanced down at Ialu, eyes going wide as he ignored the adult and skittered over to the other boy. He might not have been able to see well, but curled on the ground obviously wasn't good. If the other boy had done something to him...
His hand lit on Ialu's shoulder and he shook the boy a little before glancing up at the adult with his eyes wide and a rather frantic expression on his face. "Can it wait a moment? I need to get him to the nurse. He was sick yesterday and I don't know if that's what this is but it has to be something and she might be able to stop it."

The large man frowned slightly, feeling disappointed that he had missed his chance to get a good word with the Er Rit. His family had a lot of influence, and if only he could speak to them once...
"Of course, m'boy. Take care of your friend then...," The large man clapped his hands together and walked out of the door slightly rejected.
Ialu still wasn't phased, still deep in the past, eyes squeezed shut. He could feel the hairs on his neck rise up as he saw the shadows play on the tent's surface. A bad feeling sunk to his stomach as the material of the tent was pushed aside and in strode his uncle with a bottle clutched in one hand, swaying from side to side.
The boy was breaking out into a sweat now, and his fingers dug into his arms, ripping the skin.

Kei mentally cursed at the adult as he simply left... because obviously whatever decorating thing he was doing was more important than helping get another kid to the nurse's office. Damn humans and their screwed up priorities.
Any resentment disappeared as he glanced down at Ialu again, gasping as he saw red on the other boy's arms and grabbing for his wrists, prying his hands off and gripping them tightly in an effort to keep him from hurting himself. Nurse. Now. Sounded like a good idea.
Sparing barely a moment for the thought that Ialu was not going to be happy if he woke up in the middle of this, Kei released the other boy's hands for a moment, pulling him up and cradling him to his chest like his mother always used to when he fell asleep somewhere other than his bed, gripping the other boy rather tightly to keep from dropping him. He was somewhere torn between amazement and relief at how light Ialu was... Good thing since he wasn't sure he would have been able to carry him otherwise.
Kei hadn't really realized how little he actually knew about what the other boy looked like until that moment. He knew Ialu was smaller and darker than he was... and that was about it. He didn't even know what color eyes the other boy had since he'd never been close enough for them to become different from the shadows of his eyes. Actually touching someone showed a lot more about them. Now he knew that the other boy was definitely smaller and lighter than Kei was, could feel muscles through the other boy's shirt...
It was rather strange, since he'd never really know anyone other than his siblings like that. If he hadn't been so intent on first getting down the stairs then out the door without whacking Ialu's head on the frame then to the next building he would have been rather embarrassed by it...
Thankfully the nurse was there when he got there, in a swirl of skirts that were today brown and purple, though the voice was obviously the same. He was hardly through the door before she was a swirl of motion, taking Ialu from him and shooting off questions until she got the whole story, constantly doing something to the other boy (or maybe lots of somethings) that he couldn't see.
"You can head back if you want to." She said, stepping back from the smaller boy, who was now tucked into a small bed.
"I probably should stay." He answered, moving towards a chair besides the bed.
The nurse paused for a moment, then with a simple "Alright" pulled the curtain closed, apparently confidant that whatever she had done would help.

"Uncle? Is that you?" A little voice cried out from behind a blanket. The wind outside was starting to howl up as the dust storm raged on. Ialu shivered as he wiped his red eyes again. This week was just going more and more horrible. His father had just passed away from a fatal snack bite that not even the tribe healers could do anything about. The poison was potent and spread through his body like rapid fire. The responsibility of getting the tribe to a new water spot before the dust storm was then placed in his uncle's hand.
His unreliable uncle who couldn't even hunt for himself. He was constantly seen with a wine bottle. His wife had left him years ago because of his laziness, and then he began his binge drinking. Ialu's mother tried her best to be kind to him, and sometimes he would argue with her. The small eight year old didn't like him, but he was related to his father, so he had to be nice.
The alcoholic man had already made two mistakes. He hadn't gotten the tribe to the water spot and he had managed to split the tribe in two. Ialu's mother was far behind with the second half of the tribe, but she had given him a reassuring smile as they parted temporarily.
The large shadow of the man loomed over the boy, and he was breathing heavily. "Boy....," he slurred. "It was your fault... wasn't...," he took a swig. "Washn't... it .. boy? Y-you.. you killed him..."
"What are you..?" he squeaks out before a large arms slams down against his head. Ialu lets out a scream and tries to scramble away from the drunken man. Anywhere, anywhere where he can't reach. The boy crawls and almost makes it under a dresser, but the man grabs him by the ankle and pulls him up. Punches. Punches, keeps punching the boy like he's a worthless doll.
No one can help. No one can hear. Ialu screams.
Ialu screams and wakes up just as the nurse finishes checking his pulse. "DON'T TOUCH ME!!!!!!"

Kei had started to half doze in the chair while Ialu slept... or whatever it was the other boy was doing. He felt like he should be trying to wake him up, and he could hear the worried mutters of the nurse as she came in an out of the curtain to go between checking on Ialu and the other things that she had to deal with.
He was tempted to ask her what she thought was wrong... except that he knew she hadn't meant for him to hear her and probably wouldn't tell him anyway. Instead he simply curled up on the chair, head resting on his arms on the arm of it and tail flicking erratically through the other arm. For once falling asleep wasn't really coming naturally... Probably because he was worried. He supposed that the other boy had to be growing on him for him to actually be this concerned after only having known him for a few weeks... He hadn't ever had that sort of connection with anyone except for his siblings; though inversely his siblings were also most of the reason for him sleeping so much.
The Er Rit was just starting to drift off when Ialu yelled. He sat bolt upright in the chair, eyes wide as he twisted his head to stare at the other boy with his good eye. "Are--Are you alright?" He said, mostly by reflex, though he wasn't sure if Ialu heard him or not.
The nurse stood back, hands in the air for a moment as Kei assumed she stared at Ialu in just as much surprise, then her hands dropped and she disappeared for a moment, coming back with something in her hands and holding it out to the boy on the bed, "It's alright Ialu, drink this, it'll help you calm down a little."

His eyes were wide and wild, and he clutched at his bed sheets and scooted as close to the headboard as he could get. He still wasn't used to his surroundings, and he looked down nervously at the cup in the woman's hand. Hesitantly, he reached out and pried the cup away from her, and took a sip of it, feeling his muscles relax almost immediately. His breathing calmed down, and his eyes glazed over.
Ialu slumped in the bed, and giggled like a drunk. The nurse nodded firmly, and went to work on checking his vitals. "Hmm.. he seems to be fine physically... I believe what happened was a triggered trauma attack. Just let him rest for now. He'll return back to normal in a few hours. Anyhow, I've got matters to attend to, so would you mind staying here and watching over him? I'll relieve you at lunch.."

Kei stared at the other boy as he... giggled? The Er Rit blinked for a moment, the shock from Ialu's outburst disappearing in pure confusion. Well... obviously whatever the other boy had been given had been pretty strong...
"I don't mind." Kei answered to the nurse, she started to leave in her purple swirl then paused, turning back, "And remember I need you to come in before the end of this week to check your eye. If I have time when I come back I'll do it then."
The albino merely scowled at her back, figuring that maybe it was a good thing Ialu was drugged up on something, since he wouldn't have to rationalize that comment down to normal vision problems. Most people didn't have to have checkups every couple of weeks.
He turned his eyes back to the other boy on the bed, stiffly uncurling his legs from the chair and moving over towards the other boy, "What happened?"
If he would actually get a coherent answer was something that Kei really had no idea of... but there was a chance and maybe Ialu would be more likely to actually tell the truth now than when he was completely sober.

Ialu giggled again, this time leaning forward in his bed. The boy latched himself on Keiani's neck and smiled like a child. "You. You're pretty..., heeeeheeee," he laughed again and reached out to play with the Er Rit's ears, enjoying the feel of his fur. "Mm, soffttttt~~"
The tanned boy let go, falling back onto the bed, and cupping his mouth to hide a snort coming out. Ialu let one of his hands wander to his sheet, pulling them up in front of his eyes. He found great amusement in the way the air pushed the light material up, puffing it. He laughed and moved it up and down several times before tossing it over Keiani's head. "Hahahahaha! Kitty-human-ghost!
He grabbed on to one of the other boy's flailing arms and pulled him. The boy crash landed right on top of a delirious egyptian boy.

Coherent was definitely a no. Oh so most definitely. So much for that thought.
Kei jumped in surprise as the other boys arms went around his neck, staring down at Ialu's face. The back of his mind was noting that the answer to his earlier question was green, a very bright and pretty green... The rest of it was frozen in the whole Ialu actually touching him thing. It wasn't that he minded but... well he wasn't used to people other than his siblings randomly clinging to him. Especially not clinging to him and telling him he was pretty... though he was fairly sure that was just another random spawning of whatever drug the nurse had giving Ialu.
He fought the urge to purr as the other started messing with his ears. It was something of a natural response... but now really wasn't the time to be acting like a kitten. Now wasn't the time at all. The Er Rit was relived when, instead of bothering Kei further, the other boy dropped back onto the bed, staring in bemusement as the other started doing what looked like playing with the sheets.
Really it wasn't too surprising that Kei managed to miss the sheet coming for his head (though in retrospect he should have expected something of the sort). He froze as he landed on Ialu, mostly because he hadn't expected to be pulled nor to land on top of the other boy... A moment later he had brushed the sheet off of his head (damn his hair was probably completely mussed now) and scrambled as far away as he could with Ialu clinging to his arm, rather relieved that his glasses had stayed on through the tumble.
Kneeling on the bed besides the boy now, he reached over and grabbed at the wrist not gripping his arm (he figured the other one was occupied for now) to keep the human from doing anything unexpected -- at least he hoped -- and muttering to himself, "Yeah well this kitty doesn't like being jerked around."
"Stay." He ordered, figuring that maybe one word commands were probably best right now. "Jerking other people about isn't nice."
