Ialu used his back to push open the auditorium doors since his hands were full from holding his tray and a drink. The sight when he turned around to face the stage did not make him happy. The stage manager was brushing off something from Kei's face and whispering in his ear. He wasn't sure what this feeling was, but he didn't like it. He shook his head, and walked to sit on the last row of the auditorium, plopping down moodily.
He set the draw down rather skillfully on the small armrest, and took a large bite of the chicken sandwich with one hand the other shoveling fried potatoes into his mouth. His eyes were still glued on the two on stage, as small as they looked. That guy... he was far too close to his roommate. It was even making HIM feel uncomfortable at how close they were. He growled, it was none of his business. Why was he so bent on this?

"I take perfectly good care of myself" Kei said, pulling away and scowling at the larger boy. It wasn't overly bright in here, so he really couldn't see anything much past the stage, though it sounded faintly like a door opened for a moment... the other boy didn't do more than glance away, apparently not seeing anything, so he assumed it had been nothing.
The older boy was moving uncomfortably close now, reaching a hand around to cup Kei's chin and saying, "I'm sure you do." He moved so that he was even closer, face even with Kei's now "Doesn't mean you couldn't do better though."
"I'm doing quite fine now." Kei snapped, attempting to jerk away.
Instead of simply letting him the older boy reached out and grabbed his arm, effectively keeping Kei from going more than a few inches, "Careful or you'll fall." He said, sounding calm and almost... amused? Kei seethed for a moment, glaring at him before the boy slowly let the Er Rit go, though he didn't move away, if anything he was closer for a moment.
Kei edged away again before the other boy moved back to where he had been sitting, though still pretty close... at least he wasn't as close as before, "You have pretty eyes." He said, sounding even more amused.
"No I don't." Kei snapped, turning a little away and taking another bite from his peach -- which he thankfully hadn't dropped -- he wasn't sure quite what was with the other boy right now... but at least the only answer was a chuckle as the stage manager apparently found the statement amusing.

Ialu squinted further, as he watched the two on the stage. He finished the last of his food in angry rips. He couldn't see Keiani's expression very well from where he was sitting, but from the boy's body language, he didn't seem very happy. The egyptian boy left his tray on the arm rest and stomped down to the stage, hitting his hand on the side of the stage to make a large smack. "Hey!" He put on a fake grin, with a more competitive air to it than anything else.
"Keiani, weren't you supposed to help me carry boxes to the student council room today?" This could go two ways. Either the Er Rit would pick up on Ialu's lie and would go along, or he would not understand at all, and say no. It was harder to do this with someone who was practically blind as well.
Ialu didn't want the latter to happen at all. That would mean that he would have to turn around and leave, and wouldn't get another chance to save his friend.

Kei's head swung around as he heard loud footsteps coming towards them, searching for the shape to come out of the darkness. He heard the stage manager sigh loudly, sounding annoyed.
He was oddly relieved when the voice and incoming blob proved to be Ialu. The Er Rit really had no idea what was with the stage manager today... Usually he was all annoying and mothering, now he was annoying and... Kei wasn't really sure, maybe it was a different type of mothering that involved invading the albino's personal bubble.
Ialu's voice had an odd sound to it as well... like he was annoyed or bothered or something, Kei couldn't quite put his finger on it. Whatever it was, he'd much prefer Ialu in an odd mood than staying at the moment... He couldn't help but wonder at the human's next comment if that maybe hadn't been obvious, since he was pretty darn sure that he'd never heard of carrying boxes somewhere (and really Ialu helping with something for the student council seemed farfetched.
Farfetched or not, it did make for a good excuse to escape the awkwardness, so he slid off of the platform, saying "Sorry! I forgot!" and twisting around to give the stage manager a rather empty smile as he moved away, "Thanks for lunch."
"I'll see you two at rehearsal then" The older boy said. Kei's ears flicked and he moved towards the edge of the stage where he knew the stairs down were, not bothering to look back. It almost sounded like the stage manager was annoyed about more than just having to eat alone, almost like he was mad about it even... Gods he was in a strange mood right now.

Ialu sighed a breath of relief as Keiani slid off the stage. The finally exited the auditorium, and the boy walked with both hands clasped behind his head. He felt so annoyed. That stage manager was definitely up to no good. And Keiani was so blind. Literally speaking too! That's why he didn't trust anyone so easily. There was always a story behind someone. He huffed, and turned around to face the albino boy, walking backwards now.
"What were you thinking?!" He imagined that if he wasn't there to save the Er Rit, the stage manager probably would've done something bad. He frowned at his roommate, putting his hands on his hips, and stopping. His face held a small pout and he stared at the other boy for an answer.

Kei felt rather relieved as they got out of the auditorium. It had felt like the older boy had been watching them the whole way out, which always made Kei feel rather self conscious and in a hurry to get away from whatever gaze he was in. Even if it wasn't necessarily looking at him. He still had the half finished peach and he absentmindedly took a bit of it as he moved to follow Ialu.
His steps slowed as Ialu turned around, figuring that the other boy was going to say something. It had to be something since it obviously wasn't getting boxes.
After Ialu spoke he stopped, blinking in surprise at the other boy. What had brought that on? It wasn't like the stage manager was dangerous or anything... They'd been working with him from weeks and up until now he'd just been annoyingly protective, which while it did bother the Er Rit, wasn't dangerous... After a couple of moments of his mind confusing itself he asked, "What do you mean?"

Ialu huffed. Really, the Er Rit in front of him could aggravate him to levels he didn't know he had. He spun back around to face forward, and waved a dismissive hand. "Never mind." Even if he did try and explain, he would only make Keiani even more confused. He wasn't even sure what HE meant himself! He stuffed his hands in his pockets, and took slow steps so his roommate could catch up. There was still a good twenty minutes before rehearsals started back up. He pursed his lip and wondered what he could do in that time. Keiani would probably choose to sleep...
His mind wandered back to the stage manager, and he frowned. "You should really be careful when you're alone with people... they might hurt you cause you're a really good looking person," he said innocently.

Kei watched the other boy, waiting for an answer... which never came. He was utterly and completely confused. Confused wasn't too strange of a state for him to be in... but really it usually wasn't because of people saying things that he simply didn't understand. Between the stage manager and now Ialu it seemed like today was just an odd day for everyone... though he preferred Ialu's oddness far over the other.
He followed the other boy, trying to think of some way to subtly ask and figure out what it was he had been referring too... Except that subtlety really wasn't Kei's strong point at the best of times, and at the moment the skill seemed to be determined to thwart him. He was about to just out and demand an answer when Ialu spoke again.
The Er Rit frowned, mind focusing more on the first part as he immediately started answering, "I guess that makes-- What?" About halfway through answering his mind actually caught up with what Ialu had said and he paused, staring at the other boy rather perplexed and even more confused. One, what would that have to do with anything even if it was so, two, where the hell was that coming from Ialu of all people, and three... What?!

The tanned boy bunched his eyebrows together. "What?" He turned around and stooped again, crossing his arms. "What'd I say?" He thought about what he had said, and frowned further. It made sense to him. People weren't to be trusted so easily. And if you were good looking, you had a higher chance of getting hurt! He pouted, and tilted his head at his confused roommate.
He thought about his statement more, and started to tinge in red. He could understand why Keiani was so confused. Ialu hadn't ever admitted to the Er Rit that he thought he was good looking. But Kei was pretty, and had a lot of male attention that he wasn't aware about. The boy's in their science glass had been quite careless in labs lately, from staring at the white haired boy. It irked the egyptian somehow. He wasn't quite sure why, but it made him annoyed, and he usually ended up snapping at his lab partner because of it.

The answer that the smaller boy gave certainly didn't abate Kei's confusion... Though he supposed that a question couldn't really count as an answer. If anything the confusion on Ialu's part as to what he said just added to the perplexity. Kei was vaguely wondering if he shouldn't point out the wording and how simply strange it was for Ialu... But he wasn't sure if that would go over so well.
It was vaguely occurring to him that somewhere along the weeks he had been here he'd gotten a fairly firm idea of Ialu that the last few days -- between him getting sick and the events of the day after and now this -- just weren't matching up with. The back of his mind was telling him that expecting to have someone's personality pinned in such a short time was completely idiotic... but the front of his mind was more confused with this odd change of pace that he hadn't really expected, and absolutely couldn't rationalize. It was... just not fitting.
Not being able to see Ialu's blush, he figured that the silence was just lack of reaction, maybe even not comprehension of what had the Er Rit so confused... So he just shook his head to clear it, running a hand through his hair, "I'm a bit to odd looking to warrant any danger because of that, I think." He answered, sounding rather absentminded though the confusion was still evident in his expression.
How exactly looking a certain way could be dangerous for anyone was completely beyond his grasp at the moment, try though his mind did to come up with a reason why it would even factor in. Except maybe jealousy? He was pretty positive that wouldn't even come close to applying in his case. It flickered through his mind for a moment that maybe Ialu had just said it to make sure Kei was listening or something, since it just didn't make sense... Oh well, at least a statement of the obvious should end that part of it all.

Ialu shook his head, and turned back, facing forwards and walking at his regular pace, leaving Keiani behind him. Seriously, he couldn't believe how thick the Er Rit was sometimes. He couldn't even tell that the egyptian boy was worried about him when he was alone with the stage manager!! He felt frustration flare up, and patience with the blind boy wearing thin.
The boy let out a growl kicked a nearby trashcan over. Maybe bringing up another topic would calm him down a little. How was the set work going? He could probably work faster if the stage manager wasn't breathing down his neck...
No no.
How was lunch? Oh right. The stage manager was staring you down!!
The boy growled again, shoving his hands into his pockets.

Kei stared at Ialu for a moment as the boy suddenly spun off, before moving quickly to attempt to catch up... Or at least get somewhat near there. The other boy walked fast. His mind was a swirl of trying to figure out what the other boy was so upset at... It couldn't just be because of all this, could it?
Shaking his head, more in confusion than to negate anything, Kei managed to get more or less close to Ialu as the other boy sudden lashed out at what he assumed was a trashcan judging by the relative shape. The Er Rit stared at his roommate though his good eye, tail lashing back and forth.
"Are... Are you alright?" He asked, ears twitching as he heard Ialu growl. All he could think of what that things were either piling up one on top of the other, or the dark haired boy knew something that Kei didn't. It couldn't be just because of what little had happened in the auditorium, could it?

"I'm fine!" He huffed, and pouted, finally reaching the dorms. He actually wasn't sure himself why he was so upset. Mainly because being around Kei and his confusion made him have a large migraine. Also because he missed home. Also because the stage manager was untrustworthy.
Plus, the play for the festival. He was stressing out now that it was time to step up. They had only a few more full dress rehearsal before the real thing! He didn't see the point of performing. It wasn't like anyone that mattered to him would show up. There was no way him mom could come.
He sighed, unlocked the Seb's cage, picking up his cat, and calming down relatively when he held his pet. "I'm sorry.. just stressed."

Kei was rather doubting that Ialu was 'fine'... but he had a feeling that if he challenged it he'd be getting into an argument that he didn't have any basis for. Kei wasn't really all that good at arguing anyway, that had always been Sal's forte, with Rin standing there silently amused and Kei hiding behind him. Reasoning was one thing, arguing was another completely.
He didn't realize where they were heading towards until they got to where Ialu had Seb kept. Kei hadn't actually followed Ialu to here before... Kei had been a bit too lost in his confusion, he supposed, since he usually made sure to pay enough attention to not be completely disoriented.
"It's not your fault." He replied rather automatically. His ears flicked and he tilted his head at the other boy before adding, "I guess it makes sense, between the play and everything else. Are you nervous?"

He thought about the question, and leaned against a nearby wall, making shapes on Seb's head. "Umm, not really. I just think it's pointless to perform..," he trailed off. He pursed his lip and looked up at Keiani, who was standing still except for this swishing of his tail. He felt warm standing next to the boy, and his face tinged red ever so slightly. It was strange... he wasn't sure what this feeling was.
He cleared his throat, and retracted from the wall. "Well, let's get back to the room then." They still had homework to do, and he groaned.

Kei frowned slightly at Ialu's answer, wondering why the other boy had decided to participate in the first place if he didn't think it was worth it... If Ialu had told him he couldn't remember, though it was altogether likely that he had either been half asleep or just not paying attention to the other boy.
He had started paying more attention to his roommate lately though, and he couldn't quite pin why. All he could think of was that maybe with Ialu getting sick and everything else he had more reason to actually notice more things about the other boy... or something. Though he supposed it seemed mostly like Ialu was watching out for him at times like this.
"Probably a good idea. I have history to read tonight." He said, letting himself completely skip questioning the first statement... mostly because Kei didn't really feel like he had a basis for doing that either. He moved towards the door before pausing and asking, "Is any of your family coming to watch the play?" Granted most peoples' families couldn't just drop stuff to come whenever they wanted, Kei was pretty sure that even his couldn't do that, but it was worth asking.

Ialu stayed quiet after the question was asked. It wasn't Keiani's fault. It just put him in an off mood when he thought about his mom not being able to come. The boy sighed, and opened the door to their room, fumbling the the key a bit. "No. No one's coming.."
There was no way she could come. It took all her savings just to keep Ialu in this school. Plus she was in the middle of gods know where, in whichever desert. He missed his mother desperately though. And it had been a few days over due from the date that she had promised she'd talk to him again. He sighed again, and set down Seb on his bed, heading for the desk. "What about you? Family visiting then?"

Another frown flickered briefly over Kei's face, ears flicking as he caught the other boys tone... He supposed it wasn't altogether too surprising that not having anyone coming would make Ialu sad though. "Oh... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you sad..." He said, fully aware how utterly stupid that sounded after he uttered it. The Er Rit wasn't too good at that whole comforting another person thing, not at all.
He moved over to his bed, curling up on the end of it facing the other boy, "My mom's technically coming, though it's mostly coincidence since she was planning on being here during the festival anyway, from what I've heard." Kei shrugged and grinned a little wryly, "I think it was supposed to be a surprise, but people kept asking me about it so they kinda screwed that one up."
Granted, he realized belatedly, saying that wasn't likely going to exactly cheer up the other boy.

Ialu nodded half heartedly, not really listening. "That's nice," he replied, rummaging through his bag. With Kei's family here, it probably meant that they would be staying at an inn down the road. Usually when family's made visits, the students could go stay with them, so he expected an empty room for the next week or so.
It would be nice, he supposed. He could mope about, and not worry about doing homework. Just like before Keiani got here. He rarely did his homework then.. He opened up his history book, flipping to the right page and clearing his throat. Reading out loud to the Er Rit was calming somehow. He began.

Kei settled down as Ialu began reading, figuring that was the end of the conversation... What there had been of it. Not that he really was all that surprised.
His tail flicked as he listened to Ialu read, cushioning his head on his arm and absentmindedly watching the blob that was his roommate from his good eye. It was overly relaxing to listen to the other boy, which probably wasn't a good thing for Kei actually learning. Far too tempting to just let the words fade away and simply pay attention to the sound of the human's voice as it flickered over the words on the page.
But he did pay attention, attempting very much not to fall asleep as he did so, mostly because it would be rather defeating the point of Ialu reading to him in the first place. And he really didn't want the other boy to stop reading to him.
It vaguely occurred to him in the back of his mind that either Ialu was getting used to helping Kei with his reading, or the other boy liked it himself. One of the two had to be the reason, for Ialu to so immediately start on Kei's homework instead of his... That made him feel a little guilty, but he supposed he could always make up for it by helping the other boy with his math, which was doubtless what Ialu had to do.
