Near the lower border of Maiorn, heading towards Solea
---------------------------
Vivek frowned as Dylan lurched to the side, an unintelligible whinny ripping from the pale equine and his head swinging to stare at the trees. “What’s wrong now?”
Apparently Vivek’s reaction wasn’t all the hippocamp had been wanting, since he stopped short, hooves digging into the ground, ”I saw something! I did! It’s something and it moved!”
”It’s a bunch of shadows you dolt.” Misae muttered, poking his head up from where he was bedded down with a sleeping Kitty in a large pouch hanging off of Vivek’s side.
It was fairly early in the morning, enough so that only now, after over an hour of travel already today, the rays of sunlight were starting to shine through the sparse trees around them. The day before the group had been forced to take shelter from a storm, and as a result of sleeping early both Vivek and Dylan had been up and ready to go far earlier than normal. So they had slowly loaded up the rest of the crew, tucking the smaller three into their pouches outside of Vivek’s pack sewn for that very purpose and coaxing the larger two up onto the Hippocamp after Vivek was settled.
Unfortunately early morning traveling also meant early morning shadows. Which was what Dylan had been freaking out about ever since the sun started to make is morning debut in the sky. It would have been a beautiful sight if it hadn’t been coupled with the all to familiar frightened lurching of his companion. “Calm down, there’s a pond up ahead, I think I see, and we’ll stop there for the sunrise.”
It was all the hippocamp could do to keep from launching into a gallop towards the pond and the water that kept the creature calmer than he was now, that Vivek could feel in just how Dylan was tensing… but the hippocamp behaved, even to the point of standing still while Vivek carefully slid from his back. Then it was light white lightning to a huge splash into the pond, but by that point Vivek had slipped off his back and set birds and cat on the ground.
He smiled down at them as they muttered to themselves, complaining at what they knew was an impending wakeup call. After a moment one of the twittered, and he scooped up the tiny parrot in a hand, blowing hot hair onto his neck as the others faked sleep.

Ien sneezed and shook his head furiously, shaking away the after-affects, and objected. He glared at his axe and sighed defeatedly. It was impossible for him to ever get used to wielding this contraption. His thin lips drew back into a line, his expression partially unreadable. He sat down against the trunk of a tree he spotted and unexpectedly laughed in self-satisfaction.
For now he would listen as nature took it's place and did its thing. It didn't take much to calm this forest elf down, he just needed some quiet...His eyes drooped just a bit, hearing the chitter chatter of the small animals and 'fweets' of the forest birds.
Dismissing any insecurities that hazed his mind he demolished them. It wasn't time to be talking to oneself. He sighed. Being a traveler is a bit lonely, he thought sadly and smiled gloomily. It was going to be a while before he was going to reach the next town. His thoughts followed back to his axe and he looked down beside him. "Oh you...--!"
He was unable to finish his sentence due to the lack of knowledge in cursing. The axe lied there seemingly ignoring his attempt to shred its confidence. After a few minutes he was finally able to relax. He noted something glisten and shine in the distance and squinted. Looks like water...I could use some of that. But it only reminded him of his axe, once againe. Maybe later... He thought, tiredly.

The tiny parrot started to wake up more at Vivek's breath, squeaking his complete disapproval for the process. Vivek simply smiled, kissing the little thing on the head before setting him back on the bag where his unintelligible squeaking of dismay at the morning would wake up the other four as well. "I'm heading to see if I can't find some food, who's coming this time."
Though Vivek could understand animals, that didn't nessasarily mean that they would assume he could know what they yelled at him. He had scared the crap out of more than a few by actually responding to the random insults, or even just comments, they were throwing to him. Since he had these ones with him, one of them usually went out with him to tell the locals that the human would communicate with them and tip them off that he'd heal any animal who needed it (or at least do as well as he could) in exchange for help. Thus started the morning ritual of deciding who would be forced to get up before the others.
After a moment of squabbling Soyala extracted herself from the bag, giving the other birds a dirty look as she launched into the air. A moment later she was back The birds I talked to don't seem to have anyone in need, but they did say there's a patch of berries and some fruit trees a little yonder. Giving him another dirty look, the dove snuggled back down into the bag.
Keeping in a laugh, Vivek unclipped the pouch holding the larger bird and cat, uncerimoniously dumping them on the ground and leaving them there, ignoring their enraged cries threatening retribution as he started in the direction the bird had indicated, "I'll be getting food, come find me if you want anything specific."
He was only partway there -- or at least he assumed so, as he hadn't hit anything edible yet -- when a bird landed in front of him on a low branch, nervously shifting from side to side. "Uh... Um... There'sanotherpersonoverthereishesafe?!" It shot out, before launching up to another branch. The bird might have known Vivek was alright, but he was after all, not one of them, not completely. It always took a few days to weeks for the wildlife to accept that he wouldn't hurt them. "What's that again?" He asked, head tilting.
The bird took a deep breath and got out, "Another humanishthing. Over there. With a shiny. Make sure he doesn't kill nothing?" before flitting a few trees away again.
Vivek glanced in the direction it had gone, "Sure thing." and started towards where it had gestured with its wing, after only a moment coming upon a person with the 'shiny'. This wasn't exactly a strange request... but it was the first time he had been asked to encounter a person quite who looked like this one did.
"Hello" He said, pausing and tucking the pouch under his arm, "The birds wanted me to make sure you aren't planning on hunting anything. They tend to be a little paranoid." Usually he wouldn't have added the last, but the person really didn't look like any sort of hunter.

Ien struggled to stay awake. It was sort of quiet and somehow calming to him. He chuckled and stared up at the branches above him. His mouth open in awe. Of course, he'd seen branches like these but they never ceased to amaze him. His whole right arm twitched with eagerness to write something. He covered it with his arm and shook his head in declination, closing his eyes. Sto~op!
Hello. He looked up in shock, at the stranger's voice. "The birds wanted me to make sure you aren't planning on hunting anything. They tend to be a little paranoid."
"Oh! Ahahah...Of course not!" Ien laughed nervously, scratching the back of his head. He figured the stranger was talking about his axe. "My axe is there for my own protection, as wild as it may seem. I swear."
Could it be he can communicate with birds...?
It didn't occur to him that he would encounter another travel, with being so engrossed in his journal all the time. Especially one who can talk to creatures of the air! Embarassing. Deciding to make up for his odd behavior, Ien stuck out his hand and displayed a kind smile. "My name's Ien!"

Vivek tilted his head as the person answered. Usually the instant response he got was one of skepticism or the type of look that meant they thought he was crazy... this person didn't seem to be instantly thinking that way, though that may be because he seemed to be as sleepy as the little ones were. Some people just didn't do all that well at sunrise, he supposed.
"Axe's generally aren't a thing of the wild." He said, grinning lightly as he knelt down besides the man. Sure he had meant a different sort of wild, but plays on words were things that Vivek liked, and no use liking them if he couldn't tease a stranger with them.
As the hand was offered Vivek took it, only shaking it lightly before letting his hand drop back to his side. He had been told time and time again that he shook hands like a woman, but he really didn't see the point of crushing someone's hand just to prove that he had the ability. It was rather daft far as he could see, "Mine's Vivek." He responded.
At that point Teal chose to make and interest, the brown and green raven shrieking her disapproval at the world as she landed hard on Vivek's head, "Vivek! Soyala said the berries were over thereeeee! I'm hungryyyy!" The birds shrieks would sound like those of a normal raven to the other man, unless he happened to share Vivek's ability, but the young man had long lost the reason to worry about what another thought. Sighing, he swiped the bird from his head, catching her and tapping her on the beak, "You're a big girl. I'm sure you can manage to pick berries by yourself. If you're so worried get the others up and make them go with you."
He set the bird on the ground besides him, where she glared at him for a moment, fluffing her wings, "They're still asleep and I'm hungryyy!". Vivek simply gave her the look, the parent look, the one that adults gave children when they really were being rediculous, "Then wake them up and go eat. I'll be there soon."
Closing his eyes for a moment he shook his head, grinning softly as the bird took off in a huff back towards where he had left his pack. After a moment his amber eyes flickered back open and he smiled at the cyan haired man, "So what brings you through this area?"

Ien's cheeks were powdered with a light shade of pink, more embarassed than he was before. He pondered, Did he...just tease me? He flushed a deeper shade and drummed his fingers together. But when a bird came down and landed on Vivek's head, it started squawking angrily. He squeaked and backed farther against the tree, without caring about splinters. Even though animals looked cute and friendly from afar, when they were mad they sure knew how to show it.
But Vivek's voice overlapped the bird's, talking to it calmly tinged with annoyance it seemed. Listening to him, he figured out what the bird wanted. Though, by himself, he wouldn't have been able to do so. Ien's fingers moved again, and he felt the presence of his journal. Ahh...I've got to ask him questions. His curiosity began to steadily emerge. It was rather hard to control.
"So what brings you through this area?"
His eyes trailed the bird's flight until it disappeared and peeked a look at the stranger and stuttered. "Ah...Oh. Um, well, I'm out doing some research actually." He explained, before clearing his throat. "Even though I'm a forest elf, I don't know much about the animals. And err..." Ien paused, hesitant. "What're you doing out here...?"
Aw, nuts. I couldn't.

Vivek hadn't noticed at first the blush that had gone across the other mans face, and it would have made him grin to get a reaction, if it hadn't been coupled with the man cowering away from Teal. He filed the information in his mind though, a small part of it rather gleefully noting that this was a person Vivek could use his rather odd trace of humor on. The rest of his mind was wondering with something akin to worry how the man would react to Misae if Teal could frighten him... The hawk was in a perpetual horrible mood, and hated any hominids other than Vivek... if this strange man was frightened by birds then it might be a good idea to keep Misae at a distance, or at least give the bird a quiet lecture on not trying to be intimidating. How could someone be scared of birds?
Or maybe it was just how Teal was being agitated. She did have a rather sharp beak.
As Ien spoke again Vivek banished the thoughts from his mind, focusing his odd eyes on the man's face, a little bit of recognition flickering over his face as the man said he was an elf. Vivek's eyes flickered to his ear, and he grinned just a bit as he realized that he had managed to miss that. Figured. Most hominids started to look the same after spending so much time with animals alone. Little things like ear shape -- even if that might seem extremely obvious to someone else -- were indeed little things to him.
"I'm wandering, mostly." Vivek said, settling back on his heels, "Tend to make a loop, mostly through Maiorn and a little bit of Solea. Just happened to be here this morning, since Dylan and I felt like getting out early instead of lazing about all morning." He brushed a bit of hair out of his eyes, wondering if he should mention that animals were something he knew well... except that most hominids seemed to want the scientific facts about them, not the things Vivek could find out and had learned by heart over the years.
Something twittered off to the side, and he glanced that way, following that thought with, "Birds say there's a patch of berries and fruit trees over thataway. Had breakfast yet?"

Ien stuck his chin up into the air noticing the obvious grin on the human's face. It was clear that he enjoyed teasing him. He adjusted his messenger bag and stood up, patting himself clean. He looked back to check if there were grass stains on his butt and found there was nothing. He looked back up at Vivek and gave him a shy smile. At the mention of another male name, he thought he must have a travel partner or maybe even lover of some-sort!
At the mention of birds, Ien shuddered and folded his arms. Past experiences with birds surrounded his mind and he huffed. That day when he was suddenly attacked by birds was horrible. He held back tears, the stinging pain in the back of his nose and eyes. And not just birds...but even humans. He stared at Vivek's features and studied them, he hadn't really paid attention to any details. His hair was similar to that of a human but it had a different color mixed in too. His eyes weren't necessarily normal for one either.
He tilted his head just a bit, taking a look at his ears. They were round. Ien frowned. Is he human...? A couple beads of sweat began to slide down the side of his face, his whole body began to feel hot. Responding to Vivek's question he simpered nervously. "No, I haven't."

Vivek was starting to get up when he noticed the change in the elf, and he froze, halfway off of his feet. It was... worrying. He could tell there was something wrong, but honestly he had know idea what could have caused it so suddenly. Teal was gone, and it wasn't cluing into his mind that the mention of a flock might have scared the smaller man further.
"Are you alright?" He asked tentatively, head tilting at he fixed the elf in his eyes. Naturally clueless, it didn't occur to him that he might be part of the problem. If it had, or once it did, he would be utterly horrified. All he knew was that for some reason Ien had gone from a smile to looking scared and fragile, and that fragile was not a good thing to be out in the wild, especially not traveling alone as the elf seemed to be. It was tempting to move over and simply fold the smaller man into a hug to try to comfort whatever was bothering him that way -- after all, that was basically what he would do for any of his six rather odd traveling companions -- but he resisted the urge. Most hominids didn't take well to that sort of thing.
The young man stayed where he was for a moment, staring at the elf worriedly, then got to his feet, holding out a hand towards the smaller man. "Come on, lets get some food into you then."
If all else failed, food could fix a lot of things. Maybe most people would have argued with the blonde on that point, but he had seen plenty of situations where it had proven true. Maybe it was just traveling with a bunch of animals prone to being rather bitchy when they weren't fed, but over the years that had become Vivek's remedy for things that he couldn't fix as a healer and wasn't sure how to approach with words.

Ien rubbed and patted his right arm, then wiped away the sweat from his face before placing it back. He took 2 deep breaths and gave one quick squeeze. A distressed sighed left him and nodded. "I-I'm fine." Flashbacks overran his mind. His whole body began to ache. That day when he was attacked by those airborne creatures, he was taken in by humans. They were nice to him. Oh-so nice, so frighteningly nice.
His breath hitched. It began too hard to breathe. "Eh-uhhh....Yes, food seems nice at the moment." The elf's eyes lazed, his mind hazed and tired. He gripped the hem of his shirt and ran his tongue over his upper lip. He struggled to look up, but continued to follow him, his movements sluggish.

Vivek stared at the man again, worry creasing across his forehead. The smaller elf certainly didn't look fine to him. He looked like he was either sick or scared to that point, and in Vivek's experience that was never a good thing. Especially since he had utterly no idea what could be causing it... he really was clueless sometimes.
Not realizing that it would probably only worse the situation, he stretched his hand back out as the elf answered, gently grabbing the other by the hand and starting to pull him towards the area that the birds had pointed out to him. His grip wasn't hard, it wouldn't take any strength at all to pull away, but it probably hadn't been the best idea. This really wasn't the best type of situation for someone as cuddle prone in nature as Vivek was to deal with.
A moment later a flash of shineing metal shone through the undergrowth, and Vivek paused, glancing over to see Kitty threading her way towards him, silver scales glinting gold in the rising sun. She was walking carefully, since Aviv was snuggled down atop her head, and the tiny bird seemed to have no intention of getting off anytime soon. "Please take this thing." Kitty snorted, eyes flickering between Vivek and the stranger before she seemed to decide the person no harm and thus not worth bothering over. Vivek leaned down, scooping up the tiny rainbow colored bird -- who Kitty actually did like quite a bit despite her constant scorn of it. A moment later the scaled cat was gone, shooting through the undergrowth to find mice or bugs or whatever she was going to eat that day.
"They really aren't that dangerous." Vivek said, holding up the little bird. Aviv stirred blearily in his hand, opening an eye and chirping a high pitched "H'lo" before fluffing his tiny feathers and snuggling towards the warmth.

Ien continued following, trying to ignore the fact that Vivek was looking at him. Repetitively, he looked side to side on the ground, only looking at the other man's moving feet. Then all of a sudden, he grabbed Ien's hand, his breath caught in his throat. He stared at his slightly larger hand and observed the details they held. Yet, it felt uncomfortable to hold hands with another. Ien's teeth chattered and he wondered whether or not he should let go.
Letting go so abruptly would be rude, but the warmth of another...being was comfortable, even if his last experience was not. He groaned in confusion, mind completely jumbled with one side reluctant and the other side not very much so. He sniffed twice and exhaled. When Vivek paused, he did as well, his ear's moved when a rustling sound took place. A cat-like creature waltzing up to them with a bird positioned on its' head.
Ien piped a near silent scream and his whole body stiffened. Yeah, the bird seemed no threat, but...He peeked up at Vivek and looked back down at the bird. He reached out his hand, just a tad, before pulling it back to his chest. "I-I'm sorry...I can't. Not yet." He let his hands fall back to his sides and looked up, sincere.

Vivek pulled the bird back towards him, alarm flickering over his face at the sound the emerged from the man... it was at least encouraging that the elf seemed to want to try to touch the little thing though. He smiled softly at Ien, "It's alright. If you want to try petting one of them, this little one is certainly the safest." Reaching upwards he let the now mostly awake parrot latch onto the longer pieces of hair hanging besides his face, "Worst he'd do is nibble at you, probably not even that if he remembers that he's not supposed to."
The last bit was more aimed at the bird than the elf, and Aviv shifted so that he was hanging on upside down, a little rainbow poof of feathers that chirped quietly, I'll 'member! before subsiding into little squeaks of happiness as Vivek started to move again and his hair swung. The little bird seemed to think Vivek his own playground.
Only a few moments later he stepped into what seemed to be the start of the small glade where most of the fruits and berries were, and he paused as Aviv suddenly squeaked, "What about Misae?"
"Wait here a moment." Vivek said, tossing a smile back to the elf as he instantly understood what the little bird was meaning. Misae was their self-appointed guardian against all evil, where all evil seemed to include anything both hominid and not Vivek. The hawk wouldn't actually hurt anyone without good cause... but if the young man behind him was scared of Aviv there was no way it would be any sort of fair to subject him to Misae.
True to form, as soon as Vivek was a few yards out a golden streak came plummeting down, the hawk shrieking, "Well it's about TIME!" as he swooped by Vivek's head then spun around to land with amazing care on the man's arm as he stretched it up for the hawk to perch on. Vivek was tempted to glance back to make sure Ien was alright after Misae's rather interesting entrance... but he had a hawk to deal with. Pulling the bird close enough to his face that his nose was touching Misae's beak, he whispered, "Do not start your normal stuff, with him. Understand? He's afraid of birds and you're scary to anyone."
The hawk snorted, tearing his head away to glare over his shoulder at the elf before Vivek lightly grabbed onto his beak and said in a normal level of voice, "Would you go get Dylan for me? Tell him I'm not bringing him breakfast just because he's busy cavorting in the water." The hawk snorted again, and Vivek had a feeling that he would be apologizing to Misae later... but at least he took off, spiraling over their heads back towards the pond.
Vivek turned back towards the elf, holding out a hand, "How about that breakfast then? There certainly is enough to choose from here." Indeed, only a few steps away was more than enough to satisfy Vivek... not that he could be sure about the elf.

Ien wanted to pet the bird, truly, he did, despite his actions. The look of alarm on Vivek's face made things worsen, his chest contricted painfully. One of the things he hated most was hurting others in any way...
I'm probably worrying him...? He pondered, but shook his head when it began to hurt. Too many things were going on with his mind. Hormones.
The smile on the other man's face, made his stomach flutter and his face warm. Tapping both sides of his face with closed fingers, Ien muttured a quick apology. He looked up and noticed how happily the bird flew and played with Vivek's hair and giggled. It seemed as if, to the fores elf, that his friend was quite good with animals. It was quite the opposite with him, his relationship with animals were not as easy to develop.
Ien tilted his head when Vivek told him to wait. But he did what he was told, even if he was as old as he was. He dug the toes of his boots into the ground and looked down, only to be caught, bewildered, when he heard a ear-defying screech. He clutched the sides of his head and tried his best to block it out and looked over at his companion. Another animal friend of his...maybe?
He could see the other man's lips move but it disappeared when he turned his head. Ien frowned and stood back up, hesitantly taking his hands away. Then after some time, the hawk disappeared and he breathed a sigh of relief. Even he, himself, was surprised at his fear. When Vivek came back, he offered a hand to the elf. With just a second of another thought, he took it and held onto his hand tightly. "Yes, breakfast sounds...about good, right now. But..." he paused. "Can I keep holding onto you?"

Vivek was somewhat surprised when the elf latched onto his hand so tightly, and a smile flickered over his face. Before it had seemed almost as if the smaller man was scared of him... maybe Ien had decided that Vivek was safe now? Or maybe the blonde was just less scary than all that birds around, considering that he could tell them to keep away fairly efficiently that could be it.
"Of course you can." He answered, smiling and resisting the urge to pull the elf into a hug. Somehow Vivek didn't think the gesture would be as reassuring to the smaller man as the same thing had always been to Vivek... Most people didn't seem to like hugs from strangers anyway.
He gave Ien's hand a slight squeeze, then let his grip loosen so that the elf would be able to pull free without any problem at all. It occured to him that the cute little man was really the same as all of his 'pets' had been when he first met them, with the exception of Kitty, and putting the elf into the frame of mind of a wild animal instead of another person was probably the better way to deal with it. He wasn't so sure how to deal with phobias -- after all, he'd never managed to quite cure Dylan of the hippocamp's many fears -- but he supposed trust was something he could work on fostering. Maybe once that was there the man would be able to touch Aviv.
He wasn't going to hold much hope out for Misae. That bird scared bird-lovers, and took much glee out of it.
The fruit trees were out, with the elf clinging onto his hand and Misae gone to get Dylan, but there certainly were enough bushes here. He gently pulled the elf over to one, dropping the pouch on the floor and pulling off a handful of berries, carefully avoiding the thorns, before offering some to the elf with a soft smile. "I have a feeling I'm going to end up with colored hands before the morning ends, these seem to be fairly perfect though."

Timidly, Ien giggled and his grip on Vivek's arm tightened just a bit. He looked around at the wildlife that surrounded the both of them. Luscious green grass, though there were spots of brown and yellow...He blinked then turned the other way, trying not to think about what could have happened. The trees were tall and seemed to almost touch the sky. However, he was quite the small fella. It could just be his height.
When the two of them reached some bushes, they were dotted with semi-bright colored berries. Following suit, Ien placed down his axe that was snuggly placed in it's leather case, as well as his bag. He looked at the human's hands and carefully picked one up and observed it before popping it in his mouth. His eyes closed in happiness, but his stomach growled. He blushed furiously. He wasn't sure if berries could keep his hunger away. Ien clutched his stomach and turned away, picking his own.

Vivek couldn't help but let his eyes trace over the elf as Ien closed his eyes. He loved it when people were enjoying something, and the elf was adorable...
He managed to have his eyes more or less elsewhere by the time that the elf's eyes reopened, though he couldn't keep a grin from flickering over his face at both the blush and the sound of the smaller man's stomach. He tossed some of the berries into his mouth, eyes fluttering closed in appreciation -- they really had managed to come at the perfect time for picking them -- for a brief moment before he shook out the pouch he had brought with him. A golden feather fell out of it -- one of Misae's, since that was generally where the bird liked to cuddle up to sleep if they were moving. Luckily Kitty didn't have fur, or he wouldn't be able to let her share the bed space with the hawk. The inside of it was stained various colors by fruit and berries that had inhabited the space before this.
"I have some biscuits back with my packs." He said, smiling at the smaller man, "If you want to help me fill this thing with enough for breakfast and later we can go eat those as well. They're rather tasteless, but the good for you type of stuff."
He twisted his free hand so that he could drop the pouch -- which was really more like a flexible boxish thing without a top, since the opening was so wide -- onto the ground in a more or less open space, tossing a handful of berries into it. Really it would have been easier to carry it with him as he picked, and that was what he usually did (unless he was tossing fruit down from a tree)... but unless the little elf pulled away Vivek had no intention of letting go of the warm hand holding onto his own.
The blonde paused, tilting his head as he listened for hoof-beats. He couldn't hear any... "I think I'll have to go back to get Dylan out of the water anyway. If Misae hasn't gotten him here by now he's probably hiding from him. Or trying to at least."

Glancing over at Vivek, he could see him shaking his bag and noticed a golden feather fall from inside. His blue eyes widened, mesmerized, his thoughts surrounding the colorful object. Pretty! The short elf thought joyously and only wondered if he could have such a wonderous thing. When Vivek started to speak, the mention of biscuits almost made his stomach sound again. His face began to heat up again, just thinking about it, and tried his best to calm himself down.
"If you want to help me fill this thing with enough for breakfast and later we can go eat those as well. They're rather tasteless, but the good for you type of stuff." Vivek also remarked.
"A-Alright." Ien replied shortly.
His grip remained on Vivek's hand. Even though he was embarassed, his body wouldn't let him release his grip. It was comfortable to him.
"I think I'll have to go back to get dylan out of the water anyway. If Misae hasn't gotten him here by now he's probably hiding from him. Or trying to at least."
Ien nodded then looked down at his free hand. It was full now. He carefully dumped them into the other's bag and gave his hand a rather grossed look. It was quite stained with the berries' juices.

Watching the elf was something liable to get him somewhat flustered if he did it too constantly, he was sure, so instead of continuing to do so Vivek focused on getting berries. Granted, he wasn't doing so much of a great job at keeping his eyes to himself, seeing as they kept flickering back to the cyan haired boy. Granted he could distract himself pretty easily just wanting to play with the elf's hair. For a random person living out in the wild, the blonde really was strangely addicted to touching other people... crowds not so much, but people he felt he could trust, definitely.
Vivek hid a laugh as he managed to catch sight of the look on the elf's face, and tossed another handful of berries into the bag, holding up his own hand, and saying"Berries tend to do that, seems like the better the berries are the more of a mess they make. Worst of it will come off in the pond."
Usually when the berries were like this Vivek tended to do some random fingerpainting on whichever animal had the misfortune of being nearest, but somehow he didn't think it would be that great of an idea to do so to a random stranger... Considering that the berries were probably more of a factor in the birds not bombarding him than him not wanting them to right now he could safely guess that they were never to thrilled with it either... Aw, what the hell, he was leading the cute little elf around by the hand, how much could it hurt?
"It's not like there's anyone out here to look presentable for anyway." He added, grinning at the elf and dropping another handful of berries before reaching over to run a finger over Ien's cheek, leaving a thin dark purple line behind when he took his hand away, glancing down at the pouch, "And I think that should be enough berries."
The blonde reached down and grabbed the bag up again, holding it out for a moment for the elf to put in any extra berries he might have had before shifting to make sure that none of them were going to be tumbling out of the bag. "Do you have anything back where I found you that you need to grab?"

Ien stared up at Vivek with a curious and somewhat blank expression when he heard him laugh. He grinned and flicked his tongue over his hands and tasted the sweet yet sour flavor of the tiny fruits. He looked at his hand and laughed along with. It was so long since he had had any joy with another being. All the others were after something else. He struggled to keep his expression the way it was and hoped it succeeded. He felt the human wipe his thumb over his cheek and tilted his head the opposite way after he finished.
"Presentable...?" The old forest elf could only ponder what he had meant. He tried to look down at his cheek with his eyes, but it wouldn't look down that far. He placed the last of the berries in the bag and clapped his hands of twigs or leaves.
Ien was, to an extent, proud of how many berries he picked. Even though he probably only managed to picked one-third of the amount inside, it kind of didn't matter.
"Do you have anything back where I found you that you need to grab?" Vivek asked him, fixing his bag.
He looked down at the ground, wondering if he did. He bent down and got to his knees and used one hand to hold his upper half, using his free hand to look through his own bag. In there, he had his journal, pencil, sketchpad and the few books he brought along with him. Next to it all was his fine axe incased in it's leather pouch-thing. He stayed positioned like that for a few minutes before gathering all of them in his hands and strapping his weapon over his shoulder. He scrambled to get the items organized inside and slipped it over the other and breathed in self-approval. That should do it! The elf thought with a semi-smug look covering his features.
"I'm pretty sure I have everything." Though a bit unsure, he couldn't drag his companion back from his allies. They most likely needed him back.
