Deep in a forest of northern Solea, an ephiin silently stalked after her prey.
A full moon sat in the sky, laying a glittering veil upon the forest. The ephiin could hear and smell the crystal flow of streams nearby. Trees hummed a steady silence, their silhouettes caging out the moonlight. The grassy soil beneath the ephiin's feet was soft and gentle, easily making her careful steps soundless.
She sprang onto a branch lightly and gracefully, her soft, bushy tail swishing behind. Hidden under the shadows, she looked upon her loned prey --- a silver wolf, now glancing back and forth sniffling the air --- and drew an arrow.
Stretching the string with a slow, steady pull, the bow let out a sharp little swoosh! as the arrow pierced through the air ----
The hunter's eyes widened as the wolf sprang away and the arrow shot into the earth, sounding a sharp, high-pitched neigh. A silver shadow stirred itself up beneath the tree, then ran galloping into the depths of the forest.
A unicorn!!
The hunter leapt from the branch to chase after her newfound interest, her pink grapefruit hair and tail whipping with the wind.

Laurie jerked away as something awoke her... something... Was that a horse? She pushed herself upwards, something made harder by the added weight of her sister sleeping half on top of her, and looked around rather fearfully, wondering what was going on. If it was loud enough for her to hear it under here...
Hiyet was clutching at her waist, and wrapped her legs around her sister as she felt the white haired girl move, "Laurie it's nighttime. I wanna sleep." When her only answer was to have her shoulder violently shoved away, the black haired girl opened her eyes and scowled at Laurie, who shrugged, turning her head back to the surface of the water and squirming out of her sister's grasping hands.
"Cummon. Something's scared a horse or something. I bet there's a predator around." Laurie said, grabbing Hiyet's hand and tugging the blue Sprite up towards the surface of the water. The scantily clad girl wasted no time in hissing mutters and complaints, but Laurie paid her no mind, "Stay here if you want to then."
"Oh like I'm letting you run off without me, you dolt." Hiyet snapped, clambering out of the stream and rubbing the sleep from her eyes. In the distance they could both hear hoofbeats, and Laurie was able to drag her sister nearer to them at something slower than a run, both of their bare feet cracking sticks and leaves far louder than the girls would have preferred.
"Oh look!" Laurie exclaimed, stopping suddenly and peering down towards a white spape rapidly coming towards them "It's not a horse, it's a unicorn!". Hiyet glanced that way, then she snapped her hand free of Laurie's grip, grabbing the tomboy around her waist and hauling them both backwards as the fair creature shot over where the purple sprite had been standing, "Yeah, and ye almost got us run over by it." She snapped, burying her face into the crook of her sister's neck as she regained her composure.

The ephiin ran after the unicorn, making efforts to stay silent. The silver shadow was quickly stretching its distance from the hunter.
Just how long can a unicorn run??
A little panic drifted through the hunter's mind as she perched onto a branch and prepared for a long jump. If memory serves correct, the unicorn can run faster and farther than most horses. The hunter was displeased and excited at the same time --- displeased that her breath was going to have to run out soon, and excited for the challenge. She smiled a little to herself before she leapt, flew through the air, legs stretched, preparing to land ---
and utterly tripped.
The backforce from the acceleration knocked a sharp pain into her as she slided against the grass, pushing the earth apart. She grabbed onto the arm she landed on and lay there for a moment, recovering herself.
"Owww......." She whimpered. Looking into the distance, she saw the unicorn's shadow disappear into the forest. Frowning, she sat herself up and twisted around to check herself for injuries. She found a few scratches here and there, wincing as her fingers felt the wounds in the darkness. A little blood, but nothing too big, she decided.
The ephiin decided to stand up and pat herself free of dirt, but as she rose she felt a sudden need to pause.
Underneath the shadows of a nearby tree, two pairs of eyes were staring at her. The hunter stared harder, trying to make out what they were --- but those eyes don't look like any animal's eyes.
"Uh... Hello?" She whispered.

The two girls probably would have lain there for awhile, maybe even gone back to sleep if Hiyet had her way... except that as the two recovered from near annihilation by unicorn hoof yet another sound came from the same direction.
Both girls bolted up... or more, Laurie went up into a crouch on her toes and the movement dragged Hiyet to her knees, since the dark haired girl was still clinging to her sister. "What is it?" Hiyet hissed into Laurie's ear, shifting so that she was somewhat behind the more capable girl. Sure, Hiyet was technically smarter, but Laurie was definitely stronger and Hiyet had no qualms about admitting it... not that someone would mistake the two roles with how they were dressed.
"I dunno." Laurie answered, straining her blue eyes to see the creature that had fallen. It sounded hurt... She untangled herself yet again from Hiyet, edging around the tree to peek out at whatever it was. Hiyet was right behind her, and summed up the view quite nicely with a whispered word, "Sexy."
Laurie was on the edge of shushing the other sprite when the -- admittedly very sexy, as Hiyet put it -- lady turned there way.
They both stayed frozen for a moment, then, before Laurie could take control over the situation, Hiyet slipped out from behind her, weaving her way through stalks of grass that swished past her bare legs, "Hallo. Are you alright?" She asked, tilting her head and letting bits of black hair fall over her purple eyes.
Laurie glared at her sister for a moment before edgeing out from behind the tree. Over and over she told Hiyet that just because something was pretty it wasn't necessarily not dangerous. But no, the minx just had to keep on ignoreing her. She surrepticiously checked the back of her pants, making sure that at least one of her small knives was within easy grabbing reach -- after all, it seemed that this was the one chasing after a unicorn, what were two small sprite girls if the lady would go after that?
"I'm Laurie. She's Hiyet." The girl said, fairly shortly as she stayed just close enough that she could grab her sister and high tail it back towards the stream, should the fox lady prove to be any danger.

As the grass rustled softly to the water sprite's movements, the ephiin inched back a little, just in case she had to run. Within seconds, she found her eyes gradually widen. Emerging from the shadows were two short girls from the streams. Of all her times spent in forests, this was the first time she'd seen a water sprite. No --- two water sprites.
And they were asking if she was alright?
"Oh, I am! Just some scratches here and there." She whispered, smiling. She stared curiously at the two water sprites. They're a pretty pair, she thought, too bad they're not game animals.
As the white-haired one introduced herself and her sister, the hunter was taken aback by their cuteness. She was going to make some gigglish sounds, but the dark, sleeping forest wasn't ready for that. Considering the sisters cute and harmless, she knelt back into a crouch from her attempt to stand up and looked at the two, a soft and bushy tail swishing behind.
"Hi, I'm Elita," she whispered with a little reluctance. It's been a while since she introduced herself to anyone, hunting in the forests; and it's not everyday that you come across two rare creatures in one night, too. "Sorry, did the unicorn wake you?"

Laurie relaxed slightly, as the lady spoke. Usually you could tell a lot from instant reactions and the voices of people, so this person sounding safe and normal rather than dangerous counted quite a lot. Really the sprite would have expected sly or something like Hiyet sounded in one of her moods, but she had never actually talked to a fox lady before, so that was stereotyping there.
Granted the purple sprite didn't come closer, nor let her guard down all the way. Hiyet would cause more than enough trouble for the two of them, of that she was sure.
"Oh that's good then." Hiyet purred, taking a few steps nearer to the lady, "Sounded worse than it was, then."
Seeing her sister full well intending to go right up to the lady, Laurie finally moved forwards a bit more, coming up behind Hiyet and lightly grabbing onto her dorsal fin with two fingers to stop her from going any further.
Hiyet tossed back a dirty look towards the white haired girl, both of them missing the reluctant tone in Elita's voice in the midst of their silent battle of dominance. When Hiyet didn't pull away, Laurie figured she had won, though Hiyet just rationalized it as not wanting to make a scene.
"It didn't wake me." Hiyet said, head swinging back towards Elita as a soft grin flickered over her face. Then she looked back at Laurie again, nose wrinkling as she added, "It woke up Laurie though. And then she dragged me out of bed." The black haired girl snorted softly, "Literally."
The purple scaled sprite merely shrugged, "If you hadn't been latched to me you wouldn't have been woken up." Then her blue eyes flickered over her sister's shoulder and she said, "Were you chasing it?" keeping her face carefully neutral.

Elita let out a light muffled giggle as she observed the sisters' interactions. She noticed that despite their frequent arguments, they were always close to each other. It reminded her of the smaller children back in the orphanage --- her family. Seeing the two water sprites fight with each other, a yearning for home suddenly cross her mind.
She shook it off.
"Yes, I was chasing the unicorn," she replied rather casually. The hunter didn't want the sprite sisters to know of her occupation --- that she hunted forest animals, but her bow and arrows were pretty obvious. "I'm a hunter." Her ears perked a little, tail taking a swish. "I hunt for beautiful animals," she said, and she wasn't going to ask if they minded. She wanted to hunt the unicorn.
The young ephiin girl then decided to stand up to continue her previous desire to rid herself of dirt. She realized that the girls came to be a little below her chest. Feeling like a big sister, Elita blushed a little.
She wanted to stay and chat with the cute little water sprites, but she must lay out a plan to catch the unicorn before it gets too far away.

The twins exchanged a quick glance as the stranger giggled, for a brief moment their feelings in complete accord as the both sighed, then ignored it. That seemed to be the reaction of far too many people, enough that while it still annoyed them a tiny bit, they had learned to just ignore it. Granted their actions really called for it at the moment, but they'd be the last ones to admit that.
Laurie scowled as the lady just came out and said that she was hunting the creature... alright, so she hadn't actually said it, but a hunter chasing something was pretty much usually hunting it. The ease she had managed only a few moment's earlier vanished, and her fingers tightened on her sisters dorsal fin. Much as Hiyet liked to forget it, the water sprites tended to stand on a fine line between the other hominid species and the animals of the actual wild.
That was something Laurie never let herself forget. Too many sprites ended up in cages somewhere because of being stupid; it wasn't like they could exactly fight well away from water. Hell, they couldn't fight much near it. She was tempted to drag Hiyet at least a little away, just in case.
Hiyet, of course, was completely ignoring her sister's paranoia. Really, she was used to it, that was just how Laurie acted. And Hiyet didn't get the vibe that this person was going to hurt them, not at all actually. Why in the world would someone mention being a hunter elsewise? Sure, they had encountered hunters of a different sort before, but Hiyet was positive this girl wasn't that type.
That and she was feeling rather vindictive at the moment. Stupid horse, nearly trampling her sister. "There's different places things like that one like to go." She said, a smile flitting across her face as she tilted her head. Laurie pinched her fin, but she ignored it, "Are you going to track it or start checking in those?"
Her smile widened as she noticed Elita's blush, and she tilted her head, thinking of the different 'safe' places that many of the more mystical creatures liked to hide out in. Laurie was going to kill her.

Under the moonlight, the hunter's trained eyes noted Laurie's disapproving expression towards the notion of a unicorn hunt. Elita understood it --- the sprites were residents of the forest afterall, but she couldn't help feeling a little scorned and an apologetic smile replaced her casual expression; though the hunter was not going to be discouraged from her hobby.
The ephiin considered leaving the sisters alone and was ready to depart for the hunt; though, to her suprise the dark haired sister seemed to be willing to help her. Elita blinked upon hearing her offer. Help would be nice, of course --- especially coming from a resident of the forest. She had only moved to this region for a few days, following the silver wolf up from central Solea. The sprite girls would shorten her hunt up for quite a few days --- weeks, even. She considered if this was a good idea, to give herself some aid and reduce the length of the hunt with a higher chance of catching the unicorn...
Or to lengthen the hunt and risk having it disappear on me?
The pondering didn't take long. She then tilted her head and glanced in Laurie's direction, wondering if this would upset her. The young hunter's ears twitched a little. Elita didn't want to anger the water sprite too much.
"Are you sure?" Elita asked Hiyet, tail taking a swish behind her. "I myself would start with tracking, but..." She trailed off, a little unsure.

A tall elf emerged from the trees, inviting the attention of both the sprites and the young ephiin. The young woman seemed reluctant to stand out in lunar veil, choosing instead to walk along the dark edges.
"So, I see someone else has been hunting tonight,"
Turning towards the odd trio, the woman carried on, not bothered by their curious stares.
"I wonder what would be more wise; you could listen to the creatures of this forest, and allow them to lure you into danger, or,"
She paused, lifting her bow as she pivoted, releasing an arrow in less the time it took for her hair to drift back into place. Her eyes slid over to the sprites, before locking her gaze with the ephiin.
"You trust your instincts."
With that, she dashed into the forest in the direction she shot her arrows, uninterested in whether the others followed or not. She had a prize to retrieve, after all.

((Sorry about that! Was on a total blank with these two for a few days for some reason O.o))
Laurie was on the brink of simply dragging Hiyet off back into the darkness of the forest, despite (or maybe because of) the fox lady's willingness to take her sister's help... But before she could manage to say or do anything another person entered the clearing.
Both sprites twisted their heads around in the same motion, staring at the newcomer. It would probably be comical to anyone who cared to notice it how their faces managed to change expression simultaneously as the woman continued speaking. For all their drawbacks and differences the twins could be amazingly alike at times. It wasn't until the elf had dashed off again that Hiyet finally spoke, and she sputtered indignantly, "Oh yeah, like we're going to hurt someone just because we're little and wild. The nerve..."
Laurie sighed, wrapping her arms around her sister and burying her face in the crook of the black haired girl's neck, saying rather clearly considering how her lips were brushing against the pale blue skin, "Temper, Hiyet, temper. You always say and do things you regret with that temper of yours."
The blue sprite shivered, eyes fluttering closed for a moment at her sister's lips on her neck before she gathered her resolve, taking in a deep breath. Hiyet glanced up at the stranger, doing her best to ignore her sister pressed up against her bare back as she answered, voice possibly slightly higher pitched than normal, "We could always do both, track and try to guess through that which safe place the unicorn went too. There are at least a few of them within that creature's distance so you could probably narrow down which ones it's at by going after it your way."
From behind Hiyet the white haired sprite growled softly, hands tightening possessively on her sister's hips. Damnit, she had tried to subtly point out to Hiyet that the scantily clad girl was going to be regretting this later -- she always would -- but of course it had gone unnoticed... Damnit. For now she figured that keeping quiet and just following would be the best course of action until she could talk some sense into her sister.

Startled by the elven woman's sudden appearance, Elita jumped a little and blinked, staring curiously as the elf spoke and acted in a manner that was unfamiliar to her. She had captured what the elf was trying to say, but her intimidating ways left Elita wondering who the woman was instead.
She blinked a few more times, staring after the fleeing elf as Hiyet made her complaint, then turned back to make her own comment with a slight uncertainty in her tone. "That... was rather abrupt? She came, shot an arrow and then she left..." Her voice trailed off, now seeing the intimate interaction between the sprite sisters. The ephiin girl pressed her lips together and felt her face flush, embarrassed to have watched but still quite entranced by their beauty.
"W-well... I'll start with tracking, while we can watch for those resting spots along the way." She stood up straight and smiled, still a little pink in her cheeks.
Tracking by sight would not be very effective at night, but tonight is one of the brightest nights any hunter could hope for. With trained eyes and hands Elita sought out the unicorn's hoofprints and identified its trail. She looked back and blinked at the two sisters. "Are you two fine travelling at night? I'm used to it, but we can take it slow if you want," she tilted her head and suggested. Elita did not know of water sprites' abilities, but she remembered something about them having to stay around water.

Laurie was rather surprised at how quickly Hiyet was getting over her anger at the elf lady, usually something like that would result in the blue scaled girl ranting for at least another few minutes, and that short of a pissed off period was rare... Then she realized that her sister had tilted her head, peering through her hair up towards the fox lady.
"You are such a slut." She whispered into Hiyet's ear, grinning despite herself. With most people that probably would have been and insult, but Hiyet merely swung her head around, lightly kissing her sister before answering, "Oh don't you know it."
With a wink to her sister, she extracted herself from Laurie's grasp, sashaying a few feet away to gaze up at Elita with a rather sly grin on her face. Laurie followed, her gaze going the same path, though without most of the slyness. The sisters exchanged a look simultaneously, both of them thinking basically the same thing; the lady looked rather sexy with a blush. Or more than simply rather, with that hair.
The difference between them came after, as Laurie shook herself out of it and remembered exactly why she was really not wanting all of this to go on. She sighed, wondering again if she should just grab Hiyet and go... then decided against it. Hiyet would probably just wait until she had dozed off then wander off to find the lady again, and that would be bad.
"We can see pretty well in the dark." Hiyet answered, moving a bit closer to Elita as she did so, "And just so long as you don't start running we'll be able to keep up just fine."
Behind her Laurie made a face, hands on her hips. Her sisters words dripped off like diluted honey, not so sweet that it hit you in the face but just with something little underneath it. In any other situation she would have been well amused... right now... well, she'd just have to follow and see what she could do to convince Hiyet otherwise. Stupid horse hadn't known what it was getting itself into.

Eter shuddered and looked up at the full moon with tired eyes while she possessively held onto Blacky, her Anig. He was in his animal form and was sleeping soundly next to her, almost as if he didn't feel her death grip. She frowned at his unaroused reaction, but continued to cling to him for warmth. He was cute, cuddly and full of chubby, furry warmth.
Her ears perked when he heard a fury of small tapping sounds against her tent. There was a slight wind out and she praised herself for buying a tent and couple blankets. Without much thought, she let go of the panda and crawled over to the entrance and poked her head out to see if anybody was coming.
Closing her eyes, she let her senses take over and let her body relax before collapsing onto the ground, nearly unconscious. After a few minutes, Blacky stirred and let out a high growl and squinted at Eter's unconscious body on the ground and rolled his eyes. He hobbled over on his four paws and, somewhat, gently rammed his head at her hip, a simultaneous yawn slash squeal taking over. A few seconds of that, he gave up and sat down and stared at her hair as it blew lightly along the path of the wind.
Blacky blinked then stared at her head then outside, noticing the moons' gaze sat on the grass just outside. He looked back down at Eter's body and sighed. He closed his eyes again and concentrated on looking into his soul. Then, the next moment, his body disappeared and a nude man's body appeared where the creature had been. The young man sneezed, followed by a shuddery groan and wrapped himself inside the thick blanket that sat behind him. He waited until Eter woke up.

A hint of pink still on her cheeks, Elita nodded at Hiyet's words. "So, as long as we walk we'll be fine..."
And then there was a sneeze.
Elita's fox ears perked and her eyes grew wide, posture straightening to the sound. Her trained eyes scanned their surroundings for movement, though there was none. A sneeze in the forest?! She frowned in disbelief.
Unless that elf lady was still near us... But it didn't sound so much like a sneeze the elf would've made. Elita pictured a feminine and lady-like sneeze and compared it to the one she'd just heard. She was sure the sprite sisters caught that too, and tilted her head as she glanced over at Laurie and Hiyet for a quick moment.
In the dark, silent forest, someone sneezed. Could there be someone else than the elf who has passed by them not so long ago? The ephiin girl followed the direction she perceived to be where the noise came from and silently stalked over in slow steps so the water sprites could follow.

Both of their ears twitched as they heard the sound of a sneeze echoing through the trees. They had excellent hearing, which was understandable with how their ears were, even more once one knew that they were perfect for amplifying sound. That was how Laurie had heard the hoofbeats, even underwater.
Laurie moved forwards to directly behind her sister again, and resting on the small of her back as she leaned forwards to whisper "What was that?"
HIyet turned her, intending to tell her quite shortly that despite how much she may know about forest animals, she couldn't identify them by a sneeze, but throttled it down. Instead she reached over, finger tracing the purple scales on her sister's face as she answered sweetly, "A sneeze."
"I know that! What was --" Laurie stopped speaking as she realized the fox lady was moving in what had to be the direction of the sound, slipping around her sister, her hand brushing around Hiyet's side as she did so, to follow. Hiyet grabbed her hand, maybe to keep her from going too far, after all Laurie was the curious one that tended to get into trouble...
The two followed Elita rather gingerly, fingers intertwined. Through the trees they could see the shape of a tent in the shadows...

After several minutes, Blacky was beginning to worry, it was unusual that the niveh was unconscious that long. He looked back, behind him was a bag of supplies and hurriedly dug through them. Pulling on a pair of pants and a shirt, the anig pounded her back with his fist with much force, hoping that would wake her up. Nothing else but the dull thumps could be heard. "Wake up, stupid!" he strained his whisper. Only then did Eter move, she looked up at Blacky and gave him a lazy smile.
"Hmn?" she slurred, lifting her head and let her blonde hair fall back past her forehead, some strands sticking to her brows.
"You blacked out without telling me!" He shouted at her then added: "Again!!"
The niveh furrowed her eyebrows at Blacky and "pfft"ed in aggravation. "I don't have to tell you everything. I was only checking to see if anyone was out door. I heard noises," Eter whispered her last sentence in fear. The anig only sighed nibbling on her head and laid down so their backs faced each other. The, sort of, genderless angel squirmed and choked on air, complaining about how heavy he was. He only ignored her and replied something along the lines of "muscle".
This time, she rolled her eyes and told Blacky that he was only over-observing himself. "No, but I know there are creatures near, Blacky!" Eter reminded him, going back to the subject. "I know it."

The young hunter swimmed through the indigo forest, lush and untouched by the hands of men. Her feet smoothed against the earth below, making no sound as she approached the source of the sneeze, her ears flipping in all directions trying to catch other noises. Her fluffy tail arched in the air as a sign of caution but trailed off softly behind.
She paused as she saw the silhouette of a tent and gasped softly in surprise. Then ears flickering, she heard whispers and other strange noises. Tilting her head, Elita wondered if she should greet whoever was in the tent. It was weird, seeing anyone would be camping in these forests that are distances away from any village or city. And in a tent, too! It was rather conspicuous if not dangerous.
Hearing constant whispers, the ephiin girl decided that it would be a good idea to greet the strangers while they're still awake. She started to inched forward towards the tent, but suddenly halted. Her ears identified a male voice somewhere in the conversation, and a wariness wormed into her consciousness.

Hiyet kept an increasingly tight grip on her sister's hand as they drew nearer to the tent... It wasn't that she was afraid, it was that she knew her sister well.
Both girls could hear the sounds of speech from the tent now, couldn't make anything out clearly, but could definitely hear voices. That meant that people were awake. That also meant that as soon as the realization came through to Laurie, she was itching to bound over there and see if she couldn't scare the hell out of the people inside. That probably wouldn't be too good of an idea, so to keep her sister from getting herself killed, Hiyet kept a firm grip on her hand, enough that Laurie looked around at her for a moment, prying at it and muttering, "Stop with the vise, Hiyet!"
A moment later they were back following behind the lady... Much to Hiyet's relief, her sister seemed to be behaving because of that... or maybe she was still peeved about them going after a unicorn. Sometimes it was hard to tell.
Laurie sidled up behind and slightly to the side of Elita, basically pulling her sister as she went a little faster, and glanced upwards, "Should we go see who they are? The tent doesn't look that thick, so long as we make sure not to get between it and a light source they shouldn't be able to see us at all, and we'd be able to figure out more a bit nearer."
