Some distance outside La'To in the Fasemoor region...
-------------------------------------------------
Through the grasslands, Caith comes walking up the road bound for La'To. Her aquamarine tails swish about as if they had a mind of their own.
"...Father will not be so happy to hear that it has not gone well..."
The Er Rit unconsciously placed a hand on her cheek, already anticipating the slap that would no doubt come across her face once the news left her mouth. She sighed and closed her eyes, steeling herself for the ordeal as she travels along the road.
After quite a bit of walking, the girl came across a small lake surrounded by a ring of trees. Deciding to take a break to get her mind off of things, she turns and begins to approach.
"...Perhaps a dip will help calm me down."
As she arrives, she casts a cursory glance around the immediate area for any signs of company before slowly removing her clothes, leaving them in a pile by the base of a tree as she slips herself into the water, beginning to swim through the lake without a care in the world.
Many people have told her time and time again how strange her affinity for water was, especially for an Er Rit. But she paid none of it any mind. She loved the water and that was all there was to it. The girl emerges from the surface of the water and shakes her head vigorously, sending aquamarine hair and water tumbling about.
"Ahhh~ Nothing like a good swim to clear the mind..."
She rests her back against the lake edge and looks up at the sky with a small smile.

It wasn't real. Even fourteen years later, the white-haired Er Pri was still repeating this to himself. The coat-clad woman he was following, no matter how much she looked like his sister (she was like a carbon copy), was not his sister; it was just a Changelin.
Marlack couldn't decide what to think of the Changelin; sometimes he wanted her -- no, it -- to act just like his sister, to become "Variel Fantine," but at other times, he wished that it would take on a different guise, not that of his sister.
However, these thoughts were nothing new to him. He had been thinking them for the past fourteen years, just in different forms and at different times.
But above all, he was worried. (As per usual.) Marlack had read the books, and he knew what a Changelin could do; take the guise of another living being. What he didn't know, however, was what would happen when the being whose guise the Changelin was taking died. Would the Changelin return to a pile of mud?
He directed his gaze to the figure in front of him, and the first thing he thought was the first thing he always thought whenever he saw her -- Isn't she hot in that?! Won't she get a heatstroke by walking around in a fur coat all the time...!? It would always take him a while to remember that as a Changelin, she didn't feel like others did.
"Stop," she (...it!) suddenly murmured, holding out one arm to stop Marlack from moving forward any further. Marlack, who had gone back into the arms of hopeless worrying, instantly made the next leap of faith.
"Wh, what's wrong?!" he demanded, his mind beginning to formulate the endless (negative) possibilities for what had caused "Variel" to stop him. "Is something dead? Is something dying? Is something killing something else? Are you dying? Is the real Variel dying? Is there a pitfall up ahead? Are we about to walk off of a cliff? Are we..." With each new possibility, Marlack's tone slowly became softer and softer, until he was simply mumbling to himself about all of the possible things that had gone wrong.
"See for yourself," it spoke bluntly, moving its arm to point up ahead, where there was an ... Er Rit? bathing in a pool of water. However, to Marlack, he would have rather not seen for himself.
"!!!!!!!" Words escaped the Er Pri and he hastily averted his eyes, looking in the other direction. "OHIAMSOSORRY!!" he blurted, covering his eyes with one hand to further block out the sight.
The Changelin, however, as he could see out of the gaps between his fingers, simply stared blankly ahead, as if it had no decency; had nobody ever taught it simple manners?
He quickly clenched his eyes closed again, trying his best to block out reality.

"....Who's there?" Her ears twitch and she stands up, turning around to find some new faces staring dead at her. Well, one stared at her, the other clenched his eyes closed.
First there was silence as she stared at them. Then her eyes slowly widened....and then she turned as red as a tomato.
".....Ah.....Ahh!"
She immediately sunk down into the water and turned around, facing her back to them. The girl began to run countless thoughts through her mind. Most of them being something along the lines of 'What are they doing here!?' and 'The coast was clear!'
She shakes her head after a moment and regains her composure before turning to look at them from the corner of her eye embarrassedly, keeping her back to them.
"...What do you want?"

"W-we don't want anything...!!" was Marlack's instantly shouted reply, as he shook his head frantically. "ok well maybe I want you to put some clothes on so I can stop covering my eyes -- I MEAN, o-ohhh man I'm sorry...." He, too, turned his back around to give the catwoman more privacy, beckoning to the Changelin to follow suit.
The Changelin, however, seemed to have other ideas, and stepped forward slowly. Its shoes made very little sound on the turf, and the white haired mock Er Pri knelt near the edge of the pool, staring intently at the two aquamarine cat ears poking very subtly out of the girl's close-cut hair.
"....you...are an Er Rit?" It asked, blue eyes intently staring.

".......Yes?" She could not help but raise an eyebrow in confusion.
What else would she be? The girl shook her head and rose out of the water, taking careful steps past the strange Er Pri and over to the tree where she left her clothes at. Her ears twitched as she kept a careful eye on Marlack all the while.
"...These strange people came out of nowhere and butt in on my private time. Who ARE they?" Caith muttered more to herself than to them as she got her clothes back onto her person.
The girl got dressed relatively quickly and then turned to face them with a not so amused look on her face. She would have answers.
"You can look now" The Er Rit crosses her arms and taps her foot, waiting for an explanation. "...Care to tell me why you are all the way out here? Perhaps who you are as well?"
