Name of Organization: Mercenaries' Guild
Purpose of Operation: To organize fighters/warriors/mages/etc that fight primarily for a monetary sum. A neutral entity that sends hired fighters while being immune to allegiance to any single country, belief, faction or politics.
Area(s) of Operation: All across Cantana, though some areas less than others.
Membership Limitations: Those who wish to fight for glory or honor are either quickly discouraged or disillusioned. To be a mercenary, you fight for the money and not much else. The Guild doesn't give any special privileges to high-born- so dreamers wouldn't find the organization as fitting their lofty ideals.
Those who want an excuse to do as they please are also discouraged from joining the Guild, for it strives to keep a certain reputation among the peoples of Cantana.
Rules of Conduct: All mercenaries are treated according to their level of ability, and are reprimanded if they boast to much about noble birth or such. Likewise, those who's only desire is to loot/pillage/rape/etc, are either kept in check or stripped of their guild immunity.
As the Guild is neutral, it has no ties to specific individuals concerning politics or religion, and are therefore immune to the quickly shifting views of the general populace- hiring out to anyone who can pay the price.
Those who wish to hire a mercenary or a company will apply to the Guild and the Guild will draw up a contract stated the purpose of hiring, the duration, the pay per mercenary (including blood-money), and any other details. The Guild will then send out a call for those mercenaries that are best suited for the task, and not otherwise occupied.
To reduce conflicts of interest and confusion, mercenaries may be set under only one contract at a time.
Major Headquarters: Lumiina/Solea holds the Main headquarters, since the political forces don't try to sway the Guild to their benefit. There are Guildhalls in all major cities in Cantana, though, and a Mercenary can use any of these for lodging, storing items and drawing money from a collective "Bank" paid through the members' dues.
Additional Facts: Uh... maybe add something here later... if I can think of anything? Or someone else?
Keywords: Mercenary, Merc
