The entire walk to the office was done in silence; partially due to the fact that I was seething inside. I have to get Mother let me go here! Keiani doesn't know how to fight, and his roommate freaks around Blondie! I can't blame him, but... They can't handle this!
I lean against the wall facing the office door and continue to mentally fume; the only indication being my fitfully lashing tail. Blondie was right on one point, though... If I get in a fight now, Keiani will get in trouble. And I won't be able to go to school here.
During my mental battle, Keiani edges tentatively into the room and I smile slightly. Ialu met Mother, so it's only right that Keiani meets his... I flick my ears a bit as I start to calm down a little.
So. I have to do something without fi--
"Have you ---- ---- ----ani anywhere?" A voice down the hall, not directed towards me, but I recognize the little bit of my brother's name that I could catch and turn my head to see who's trying to find him.
A tallish boy with dark hair and pale skin is asking a small group of kids, and when he looks around the hallway, I get a shiver up my spine- that instinctive "bad news" vibe I got with Blondie.
What's he doing looking for my brother? Maybe I'm just paranoid because of what just happened before, but if there's something there, I want to do something about it.
Pushing myself away from the wall, I eased myself into the room and shut the door, trying not to disturb the three talking, and lean against it.
What to do, what to do...

The dark skinned woman smiled coyly, and a grin broke out into her face. Ialu scowled, crossing his arms. It wasn't that big of a deal. But at least it would distract his mother for the time being. It wasn't exactly the best time to tell her he was being propositioned. "Hello!" she replied loudly and warmly, leaning closer to her own sphere to get a closer look. "Mind comin' a bit closer, sweety?"
She examined him a bit, humming as she did so before she broke out into a bother smile. "What's your name?"
"Keiani," he replied timidly, his tail swishing nervously behind him.
"Ahh, so you're a beastman. Are you enjoying your stay at the academy? My son hasn't given you any troubles, has he?" She shot Ialu a glance, and the tanned boy pouted.
The Er Rit nodded quickly, clasping his hands in front of him. "Oh no! Not at all! He's been really helpful, especially with my homework and getting around school..," he said with a light smile on his face. Ialu couldn't help but be a little flustered at how his roommate complimented him, and turned to face the other wall so neither of them could see.
His mother caught on quickly, chuckling at how the two were totally oblivious to one another. It was definitely a shock that Ialu had formed a crush, especially the way he still was when he left the tribe to go to school. It seemed her son had grown up without her being around. "Well, I'm glad! Ialu tells me there's a festival coming up soon, are you going to be contributing at all?"
"Ah.. only a little. I'll be doing some backstage stuff during the play performances.. but Ialu's really working a lot harder than me. He was the first one to get his lines all down too."
"I see.. well time's almost up! Sorry I couldn't be there to really talk more. Ialu, honey, Mommy misses you soo vewwy muchhh!" The egyptian woman made kissy faces at her son with a child-like glint in her eyes. His face burned red at how embarrassing his mother really loved to be.
"MOOOOMM!" he griped. She only laughed as the smoke replaced the image of his mother.

Kei wasn't sure why he had been so nervous talking to Ialu's mother... It was just... Well he -was-. No real reason for it, and really she was a lot nicer than he had thought mothers generally were; no wonder Ialu missed her so much...
He bit in a laugh at her last sentence, chancing a glance at Ialu and doing his best to not let more than a brief snicker go through before he composed himself. "Your mom seems really nice..." He said, shifting a bit on his feet, not sure how much he should actually say lest Ialu get upset about being away from her again.
A quick glance to the side proved that his brother had come into the room, luckily green didn't blend in with the door or he wouldn't have been able to see Sal at all. Kei had heard him come in during the conversation... but he wasn't sure why. Oh well, he'd ask his brother about it later, he supposed. Maybe Sal was feeling as edgy about the whole thing with the blonde as Kei was.
The albino glanced back at his roommate, tail wrapping around his legs. "She seemed really happy to be talking with you."

I watch the conversation from where I stand at the door and turn my head to hide the wide grin at the woman's last sally before the connection breaks. Hard to imagine that someone with such a good sense of humor would have a son so closed in on himself... Meaning there's a story in there somewhere.
A glance at Kei shows me that he probably knows about as much as I do about that, and he'll probably be the only one told- eventually. I briefly grin again. They're completely oblivious. Ah well.
I cough a bit to get the other boys' attentions. "Kei? There's this tallish, brown haired guy wearing a headset out there looking for you... I didn't like the look him so I didn't say anything to him and slipped in before he could see me. Any clue who it might be?"

Ialu smiled lightly and nodded. "Yea, I only get to speak to my mom about once a month..."
He crossed his arms, brows furrowed as he listened to the description that Sal had made of the boy outside. That was definitely the stage manager, who was not on the top of Ialu's list. He nearly growled, and took on a pout, getting a bit feisty. "That's the stage manager. Tell him to leave!" he commanded Sal with an unhappy snarl. "That guys been bugging your brother a lot lately!"
There was something very off about the stage manager. He stared at Keiani a little too long or kept his hand on his shoulder for more than needed. It irked the egyptian boy, and he had no idea why.

Kei twisted around to tilt his head at his brother as Sal spoke, brushing a bit of white hair out of his eye and frowning as he tried to place the description to the blobs he was used to seeing. Of course... headset probably meant the stage manager, especially since they'd all been released from rehearsal quite awhile ago. Why he would be looking for him, Kei couldn't fathom.
Ialu obviously had come to the same conclusion, since his roommate beat him to answering. The albino blinked at his friend in confusion, "He hasn't really been bugging me... At least not that I'm noticed."
Of course, probably wasn't the best to randomly point out if Ialu already had some mysterious reason to be pissed at the older boy. Kei wasn't sure exactly what it was; all the stage manager had really done to him was get a little too close for comfort and be a bit overwhelmingly mothering when Kei was around the stage. Honestly, Kei really didn't see why people like that seemed to think that they had to constantly lead him around by his hand --literally-- or pull him out of the way of things. Especially since the stupid person always seemed insistent on keeping ahold of Kei afterwards to coddle him.
Maybe that was why Ialu didn't like him, the whole touching thing. Kei didn't exactly like it when people randomly touched it, but he usually just brushed it off. It wasn't like he could mean any harm by it...
He glanced back at Ialu, silent for a moment, then added "I don't have to go find him though... I can't really think of any reason he would need to find me and it wouldn't be nice of me to abandon you two..."

"Wait... so we've got one guy gunning for Ialu and another going after my brother?" I frown. This just gets better and better, doesn't it...
"And they're both older students with authority of some level in the school." I groan then turn to Kei and put a hand on his head and ruffle his hair a little. "Kei, stick to Ialu like glue... or at least as much as he lets you. Same goes for you, Ialu. I'll have to home with Mother tonight, but we'll be back tomorrow for the school festival, and I'll stick by you guys much as I can!"
If that guy's the stage manager for their play, I can't stop what happens backstage... but hopefully just me being here will help. And I doubt the administration will just let things slide if one of the upperclassmen deals the first blow. For Kei's sake, I won't hit anybody unless they go after us first!
I take a deep breath. "Gah. I don't know enough. Maybe we should head back to Mother. I bet she'd take the three of us out for dinner, and you two will be safe around her!" I pause. "And tomorrow... tomorrow I'll bring this new Elven flute I bought a couple weeks ago. You two will love it!"
The music and the magic light show should help keep their spirits up... right?

Unconsciously, a scowl appeared on the tanned boys face as he listened to Sal talking. Well it wasn't his fault the president was a freak and the stage manager was just as bad! Plus he wasn't sure if Kei would appreciate Ialu babying him the entire day while Sal was out. Though.. the blind Er Rit was pretty hopeless on his own. He was just far too trusting and confused easily. Ialu shook his head as he glanced over at the hopeless silver haired boy next to him.
Dinner.. with a family. The thought of the happy family together and Ialu made his heart freeze, and he quietly stuffed the feeling in the back of his mind. Definitely couldn't let the loud-mouth notice.. he seemed to catch everything. "I.. don't think I'm allowed to leave the premises unless it's my actual family or guardian.. but you guys could go ahead. I'll just go to the room and lock the door... I bet I could push the desk against the door if you really think anything will happen."
He let a sigh escape from his mouth. Today was really.. exciting? No.. more like completely draining. He had never wanted anything more than to take a bath (as much as he hates water) and just pass out on his bed.

Kei was vaguely confused as to exactly what Sal meant by 'going after', since so far as he knew the stage manager hadn't actually done anything... He would have asked, but was distracted from it as his brother's hand tousled his hair and continued speaking.
He felt a bit uneasy about Sal leaving, only half a day with his brother here and he'd already gotten used to having the other Er Rit there to protect him again. It was obvious why Sal had to go... It just made him feel a bit safer that Sal was going to be with them as much as possible, and for some reason a short time without that safety seemed much worse than it would have the day before. The albino just hoped that they'd be able to convince their mother to let Sal stay for good.
Not that he minded sticking with Ialu at all. Really he wasn't inclined to let the other boy go alone anywhere by himself. It was like Ialu being alone sent a giant 'Hey! Little human to attack!' sign up in the air where the blonde could see it and find the smaller boy. Honestly... He didn't really think that Ialu could manage to protect himself at all from him, and having Sal there just made it less likely that he would have to.
He was about to answer, ears having perked up in interested that he didn't doubt his brother could easily read at the mention of the flute, and he started to say "Really! You have to bring that then!" but didn't say any more as his roommate began to speak.
Kei's head tilted at the tone, ears flicking a little and a frown briefly crossing his face. "No! The whole point is to not have it so you have to be on your own. If you can't come then I'll stay here with you, I can always see mother tomorrow." He paused, tail lashing back and forth. "Bet you if I asked right mother could make them let you go with us anyway, so that doesn't really matter..." The albino feel silent for a moment, frown changing tone a bit, "Unless you don't want to go? We don't have to..."

Ialu bit his lip not looking Kei in the face. "I.. don't think I want to go out tonight. Sorry.. it's just this day has been well, wild and I think I just need a shower and a bed." Plus he wasn't sure if he could handle another minute of the loud brother of his roommate. It would be nice to just sit back and relax in their room.. maybe talk a little. The egyptian definitely wanted to find out about the Stage Manager. That guy was just not trustworthy in the least.
Really, if Ialu hadn't walked in from lunch at the time that he did, he was sure that something bad would happen to the clueless Er Rit. Having such an oblivious boy as a roommate was sure hard to keep up with. In fact, he was sure this whole FAMILY was difficult to manage.. and they wanted him to go eat dinner!
The festival was in two days, and the tanned boy hadn't even started on his homework for the night. With the amount of money his mother paid for him to stay here (and the trouble he seemed to cause), the least he could do was keep up his grades. A frown appeared on Ialu's face as he thought about the pile of homework waiting for him back in the their room.

My eyes narrow in thought as I watch the way the two interact and mentally sigh at their clueless naiveté. Cute, though. Aggravating, but cute.
I debate just letting them do what they want, but I really don't know enough. I've noticed easily enough that Ialu can't stand me, and it's probably not only because I'm Kei's brother. Probably because I'm loud. I can fix that sometimes... just have concentrate a bit more on what I'm saying. Too bothersome, most of the time.
I need to know more about what's going on here. I reacted on impulse, but now I need to hear Kei and Ialu's descriptions of those two. What plausible excuse could I give for going back with them?
I flick my ears a bit when I think of something that would work, and try to pitch my voice so it doesn't bother Ialu quite so much.
"OK. Mother knows I'm with the two of you, so... is it possible for you to show me what your homework's like here? I want to know what I'd have to expect if Mother lets me go to school. And maybe we can talk more about the other kids that go here?"
I turn around and open the door slowly, peeking outside. I relax as I find no sign of the guy who was looking for Kei and open the door wider. "Coast is clear, you two!"

Kei felt vaguely guilty as Ialu spoke... It really had been a hard day for the other boy; what with Kei having left him along twice for the blonde to go after him... And they were going to have to make sure that the door to their room was locked while they slept now. For all Kei knew Ialu had been doing that all along, but the albino hadn't noticed and Ialu was always the one waking him up so it wasn't like Kei would have had to unlock the door in the mornings.
It briefly occurred to him as Ialu mentioned it that the showers might not be safe either. Normally the white furred boy would have chalked that to paranoia, but considering how Ialu alone seemed to be a magnet for the other boy... Granted it didn't really matter at all. It wasn't like Ialu hadn't seen him dressing before (at least Kei assumed) and Kei couldn't see a damned thing; he just didn't want the smaller human to think that Kei was coddling him. Especially not with how much the Er Rit utterly hated it when people did that to him.
They'd figure it out. If nothing else he could mention it to Ialu after Sal was gone, since Ialu still seemed to dislike his brother... Hopefully that would change, especially with Sal there to protect the two of them.
"We'll go back then." He answered, ears flicking as he paused to listen to his brother. For a moment the albino just looked at Sal rather curiously. Granted, the classes they were taking with tutors were different than the ones here... But far as he'd known Sal wasn't the one to ask about homework that seriously. Had it been Rin he would have accepted it as normal, but Sal had to have some other reason for it... Oh well, his brother would probably tell them once they were in the room. Or maybe Sal was just worried about the blonde waiting for them or something. Or coming back. That was always a huge possibility.
"Yeah, sure. We have a bunch of stuff to do anyways." He answered, glancing back to look at Ialu through his good eye as he moved towards the now open door.

Ialu nearly face palmed when Sal had said he was coming along. Nearly, but not quite. He was really drained and he felt like he dragged his feet as he brushed past Keiani who was slightly blocking the door. He didn't understand what that stupid guy kept bugging him for. The Egyptian didn't exactly see a beauty in himself... and he wasn't very interesting. He didn't think he was even apart of any clubs to get noticed!
A frown appeared on the tan boy as he thought about the President. That and the stage manager sure was getting weird with Keiani. Well.. technically it was spring which was a mating season for animals. Maybe humans were the same? Ialu had never experienced something like that before, so he wouldn't know.
And Sal was getting a bit much to handle. He wasn't like Keiani at all! But, he still had to be slightly happy (and jealous) that his roommate had family that could show up. His mother seemed nice enough..
Before he knew it, they had reached the dorms. He rustled his hands in his pockets, searching for the key and unlocking the door. As the door opened, the lights flickered on and Ialu placed the key on the desk, zoomed to his bed and plopped down.

I watch my brother and Ialu (especially Ialu) as we walk back to their room. It's more and more obvious that Ialu considers me an intrusion- one he'll tolerate only because of Kei.
Too bad. If you want someone, you have to deal with their family too. Not that he knows what he wants at the moment, but... I grin to myself. They're too cute, really!
I take a closer look at the room than I had before and nod. Ialu knows about Kei's eyes. It showed in how the room was kept. It was doubtful Kei realized that Ialu knew, though; not unless the boy started smothering him like the adults always did.
My eyes light on a stack of textbooks on my brother's side of the room and I walk over, seeing that math was on the top. I pick up the whole lot of them
"Got any paper, you two? We're gonna need it." I fold my self down to the floor, bracing my back against Kei's bed, and look up at the both of them.
I flick my ears as something in my pocket grows warm. I reach in and pull out a crystal ball- a miniature of the one Ialu spoke to his mother with- just big enough to hold in my palm. As it rolls a little in my hand, sparkling letters swirl into view.
'Hey, gorgeous! What's up?'
I grin lopsidely and my tail wraps contentedly around my ankles. Too bad Adrian can't be here for this. He'd have Blondie and Stalker so turned around they wouldn't know which end was which! Too bad his granmother's got eyes on everywhere... I debate telling him what's going on anyways, but decide against it, for now; maybe if we where talking, instead of sending words. He can't do anything about it, so might as well not worry right now.
I concentrate a bit on sending my reponse, ears laying flat for a moment. 'Not much, sexy. 99% chance Kei's roomie has a crush on him- it's adorable!'
That done, I set the crystal on the floor next to me and look up at my brother and Ialu. Since Kei won't be able to see me anyways, I look directly at Ialu instead. "What do you need help with the most?"

Kei moved to the side as Ialu brushed past him, blinking after the smaller boy for a moment and glancing towards his brother before following. The walk was rather uneventful... Which was a blessing. He wasn't sure if either he or Ialu could really deal with more assaults right now.
As Ialu flopped down on his bed, Kei slipped into the chair of their desk, pulling up his feet and wrapping his arms around his legs. His tail flicked as Sal grabbed the papers on the top... He couldn't remember what those were. Either math or chemistry... And judging by Sal's next comment he was thinking it was math. Chemistry they at least didn't have much homework for.
"There's paper over here, somewhere" He answered, turning in the chair to peer at the desk, not wanting to feel around before the coloring of the paper let itself differentiate from the wood of the surface. They were back in the shadows, and he knew where they were, it was just a lot easier to manage to get his fingers around some of the sheets and pull them out of their place than it would have been doing so by memory. Thank goodness Ialu kept them in the same place all the time or he'd have been rather lost when it came to finding things.
"Here's some!" He said, holding the paper out to his brother, and entirely missing that Sal was even holding anything strange in the blur of blobby colors he could see. For all he knew nothing out of the ordinary had happened, so he just paused to think at Sal's question. "Um... We have to do it all anyways..." He glanced towards Ialu, figuring the other boy would probably have a preference... Maybe with Sal proving he could help with this sort of thing too Ialu would start to like him more!

Ialu briefly closed his eyes, sinking into his covers now. "Um, I'm pretty bad at math.. but your brother helps me with that," he answered half heartedly. He didn't exactly like school, but he was complete nyosik at it either. In fact he was one of the top students in his grade. He sniffed a bit, and rolled up into a sitting position. "I'm actually good at everything else.."
Ialu whistled for his cat's attention who was currently perched on top of the bookshelf. Seb meowed happily, tail swishing as he jumped on to Keiani's bed and to Ialu's lap. He purred and nudged at his owner's hands eyeing the newcomer curiously. The tan boy chuckled, stroking the kitty's chin and patting him lightly on the butt before releasing him and letting him roam. Seb trotted over to Keiani, rubbing himself against his legs all the while purring. He had taken quite a liking to the Er Rit.
Stretching, the egyptian boy stood up from his bed. It was definitely time for sleep, but he'd have to shower first. "Anyway.. I'm gonna go for a shower."

I watch the cat and grin. Cats are awesome...
"Hmmm? A shower?" I frown inwardly. I wanted to see if I could get them to talk about those two guys... I glance at Kei, noticing the flecks of paint still in his hair. Hmmmm... wonder what would happen if...
I tilt my head a little in speculation before speaking again. "Why don't you take Kei with you, Ialu!" I look at Kei and tug on his ear to let him know I'm talking to him. "You have paint in your hair, and a little tiny bit next to your nose! It's been there all afternoon."
Kei can't see anything, but Ialu's eyes are perfectly fine. Have they ever taken a shower together before now? Probably not... though it's possible. And if they both go, I can talk to Adrian freely!
"You should both get cleaned up, so we have more time to chat when you come back!
I glance at crystal next to me as it flashes another message. 'Awww, cute! Does this mean we get to corrupt them?'
I smile encouragingly at my brother and his friend, wondering if they'd take the bait and leave. I may be protective of them, but... the two being together should make it alright. And I'm within shouting distance, if anything happens.
I send, 'Maybe. Ialu's like a powder keg waiting to exploade and Kei's oblivious to everything.'

Ialu getting ready to head off alone sparked an instant bit of worry in Kei. Sure, he could insist on following, but instantly his mind was trying to think of some reason for him to go at the same time that wouldn't have it being quite so obvious that he was trying to make sure Ialu stayed safe.
Not that Kei was much help if the blonde came back, but at least he'd be able to scream bloody murder if he needed to. He wasn't sure if Ialu would, not with how he'd been getting freaked out lately.
He frowned and reached down to stroke Seb's head almost without thinking about it, he'd gotten so used to the cat. A moment later he was getting ready to speak... And Sal spoke first.
The albino's ear flicked violently as his brother grabbed hold of it and he flushed slightly, poking Sal playfully in the ribs, "Well I didn't -mean- to get paint in it, you should have mentioned it earlier." Or not, since now he had all the reason he needed. He'd have to actually thank Sal later, since he didn't doubt his brother had gotten into somewhat of the same frame of mind that Kei had been in. Not that he could really say anything about it now, with Ialu standing right there, but he could later.
"That's probably a good idea." He said instead, jumping up from his seat and flashing a quick thankful grin at his brother before moving towards the door.

Ialu shrugged at the brothers' idea. It didn't really bother him since the showers were in stalls. The boy rummaged through his drawers for some clean undergarments, pants and a towel, tossing them all over his shoulder. He gave a soldierly nod towards Sal and headed out the door into the hall that was brightly lit. He rubbed his eyes tiredly and turned to give Keiani a half smile while the boy closed the door.
The egyptian boy took off before the Er Rit, walking slowly to so his roommate could keep up with his long strides. He yawned a few times before they actually reached the showers, until he actually saw what was going on in the stalls. His eyes flew wide open and he stopped in his tracks. All the stall walls had been removed and only a thin plastic board was separating the shower heads. He stopped a young boy who had a towel wrapped around his waist and was drying his hair in the towel and questioned him. Apparently, the walls needed some repairing since there was a big mold build-up, and they couldn't get anyone to fix them quite fast enough.
Ialu turned a bright red and faced Kei to tell him what had happened. It really shouldn't of mattered and he knew he was being completely unreasonable. It wasn't like his roommate could actually see what was going on. But still, it was the thought that all that would be in between them was a piece of plastic that threw him off.

Kei grabbed the things he needed for a shower before hurrying after Ialu, flashing another grin back at Sal before slipping out of the door. Luckily his roommate wasn't hurrying... which should mean that he didn't mind that Kei was coming with him. For some reason that made the Er Rit ridiculously happy to realize.
That happiness lasted to the bathrooms, though he paused as something apparently disturbed Ialu. Really, he didn't care much about the showers: it was all boys after all, so it couldn't be much they hadn't seen before. It was always possible that him with his strange skin freaked a few people out, but if it did noone had ever mentioned it to him.
"It doesn't matter that much, does it?" He asked, blinking at his roommate, his ears flickering as he tried to discern the tone. Odd... that it seemed to bother Ialu. Kei really couldn't imagine why... Unless maybe Ialu not liking people touching him was another shyness that extended more? Just a shyness that wasn't as obvious. After all, Kei couldn't see well enough to see when they were in their room, and Ialu at least knew that Kei's vision wasn't good. And the boy -had- been in a room by himself so maybe that was part of why...
Or maybe he was just making up thinks in his head and Ialu was still shaken from earlier today. Or just grumpy from earlier today.
With a shrug he moved towards one of the clear walled stalls, pausing for a moment to grin slightly at Ialu. "At least they were nice enough to give us those walls! I could just see me doing something utterly idiotic like slipping on soap and falling into you or somebody else if it weren't there."
