In the settlement of Ukele in the region of Pesso...
Lost in thought. That was the only way one could describe the young h'ortum making her way through the busy streets. While most folks in this town seemed to advance forward on routine paths and set goals. She had a sense that this town was very... structured. That every aspect of ones life here had a time and a place. And that thinking idly was merely waisting your time and should be avoided at all costs. The same with trivial daily conversations... they were considered inane! This was certainly nothing like Maiorn had been, nothing at all! Though it had only been a few weeks since her travels caused her to leave Maiorn, she missed it already.
She sighed deeply, bored and troubled. It looked as though she would be spending more time alone. And she doubted people here even had intimate affairs, much less passionate one-night outings. Tonight would be a dreary one, certainly, as well as the weeks it would take to pass through this place. Was every settlement like this? Or just Ukele?
The empathy, the feelings people gave off around here made her cringe, her lupine ears laid back. She had her walls up high, but as always of course some leaked out. perhaps she needed to meditate and strengthen them. She doubted with so many here feeling the exact same way it would help much. The people here all amplified one another. It was still a bit overwhelming, and it made it hard for her to concentrate. Very difficult indeed.
And that was when she committed a grave error. Her golden eyes widened the moment after she accidentally knocked into a burly guardsman in front of her. "I'm sorry Sir, so sorry!" she said quickly, ears flat against her head and bowing quite low.
But still, her actions did nothing to abate the tidal wave of anger that flowed right beside her. The negative, dark energies that assaulted her mind, trying to invade her very essence. The man above her growled, grabbing the collar of her jacket and righting her. He was certainly a huge man, all muscles and quite suited for his job indeed. "YOU," he said. "You have the AUDACITY to bump into me! Do you know who I am?"
"No..." Celepas said meekly.
"WHAT?!?"
"No Sir I don't..." she replied quietly. He shook her collar then, and Celepas could smell the hint of ale to his breath.
"Well I know who you are you insignificant insect! You're a BITCH!" He tossed her to the ground then, turning away. "Never darken my presence again..." he swore. Celepas, however, stood upon her feet then. Across her kind face was a look of pure fury. A look that didn't belong there.
"Indeed," she replied coolly, and with a flick of her hand sent a set of ice spears hurtling towards the man. The spears lodged one each into his arms, his legs, and one finally into his back. There was enough force that the man was actually sent forward, and pinned into a wall. The icicles actually breaking into the walls materials and lodging firmly. "You can stay there until they melt," she said into his ear, grinning a slight before she felt... not anger but his fear. Oh no... oh no! She gasped, and realized immediately what she had done. His dark feelings had overridden her own and... and...
She summoned the ice away, and the man took off, that fear still clinging. She, exhausted, slumped against a nearby wall. That was bad... really bad. Glancing to the remnants of shattered ice she sighed deeply. It was her fault again...
